Woman falls from 4th floor in 1 Utama Shopping Centre


Life during the pandemic has, no doubt, been tough on many.

A call to reach out to our loved ones during these trying times comes again as 1 Utama Shopping Centre shared an official statement on their Facebook page that a woman had fallen from the 4th floor of their premises to her death.


Police investigations ongoing


On 19th May 2021, 1 Utama, a well-known shopping centre in PJ, took to Facebook to share what had happened.

In the statement, they shared their condolences over the incident that happened early this afternoon involving a woman who had fallen from the 4th floor of the mall to her death, as reported by China Press.

According to the post, their emergency response team immediately attended to the incident and it is now currently being investigated by authorities.

To cap off their post, 1 Utama also shared several mental health service hotlines to contact for anyone who may be suffering from any anxiety or more serious issues. They also reminded their followers to “be kind and mindful today and everyday”.

An update from Malay Mail identified the woman as 33 years old. The report also said that the woman is suspected to have fallen from the 4th floor, as 1 Utama’s post indicated. Police were alerted of the incident at 12.45PM, and investigations are still ongoing. Malay Mail‘s report also said that the post-mortem is currently being conducted at University Malaya Medical Centre.

There is no additional info at this point in time. But any witnesses to the incident are encouraged to contact the police.

It wasn’t too long ago in April 2021 when news circulated of a man falling to his death in Suria KLCC. We’re saddened to hear of this news today, and extend our condolences to the woman’s family. We hope that the investigations will be able to conclude soon, and help bring some closure to her passing.
