Earlier today (20 Mar), the Ministry of Health released its daily report on the number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. It was announced that there are 130 new cases today, with 48 of them linked to the tabligh cluster. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 1,030 the highest in Southeast Asia.

In the statement given, it was also mentioned that 12 patients have successfully recovered and are now among the 87 people who have been cleared of the virus. However, it is unfortunate to note that 26 patients are in critical condition as they continue to battle it out in the ICU.

The news comes after a recent update regarding 15 healthcare workers who have been infected with COVID-19 while on duty. The update on Twitter was followed by a short message to the general public that said: “Please help us to help you”. Government officials have reminded Malaysians time and time again that we’re supposed to stay at home during this critical period of Movement Control Order.

Malaysians advised to exercise at home

In the statement given by Ministry of Health, Malaysians were also advised to remain active even while at home. This is just another precautionary measure that we can take to make sure that our immunity system is not compromised. To make things easier, the government has given a few exercise recommendations for us to follow and these include push-ups, squats, planks, burpees, and lounges.

Agong to release a statement tonight

According to New Straits Times, the Agong will be issuing a statement regarding the Movement Control Order via a live telecast on TV3 at 8PM tonight. This announcement follows after a video was posted to Istana Negara’s Facebook page that showed the Agong inspecting the roadblocks happening around the city.

In another video, it showed the Agong driving along the highways as he commented on the unfavourable situation due to the high number of cars that could still be seen on the road.

Malaysians need to stay vigilant during this time, especially since the Malaysian Armed Forces will be deployed this Sunday on 22nd March 2020, to monitor the Movement Control Order.
