Balik Pulau is home to several durian farms that offer the freshest durians in Penang. So it’s no surprise that there’s a cafe in the town where you can feast on durians with a spectacular view of nature, and also have your share of pasta and coffee.

The cafe is housed in a two-storey shipping container surrounded by an oasis of green. There’s even a charming garden with al-fresco dining tables under huge parasols. You won’t have to worry about durians falling on your head while dining here – there are nets placed over the garden area to keep the spiky fruits from potentially harming patrons.

Take a leisurely stroll through the garden, or choose to have your meal outdoors, to bask in the fresh air.
Or, take some Instagram shots, which is a popular activity among patrons. While the lush scenery itself is a beautiful backdrop, make full use of their IG-worthy spots, such as the whimsical-looking hammock chair in the garden or by the stairway that overlooks a peppy view of the plantation.

Under a patio, at a corner of the cafe, you’ll see an assortment of the green, spiky ‘King of Fruits’ strewn across the table. Here, patrons can take their pick among the huge selection of durian grades offered.
The most sought-after species – the Musang King (RM78/kg) – is recommended for those who enjoy a lush sweet taste, while durians like Black Thorn (RM48/kg) will entice you with its musky and intense bitter aftertaste.
