Bagel brunch meals
A contentious newcomer – and a strong one at that – is Grumpy Bagels, a bakery cafe that has been all over our social feeds of late, thanks to its ingenious marketing content helmed by the cafe’s owner-cum-content-creator.

Estelle Bagel is relatively new to the bagel scene in Malaysia, but it is already proving to be a great contender as local’s favourite spot to dine in and chat over elite plump rings.
Reminiscent of the famous London Bagel Museum in South Korea, the cafe exudes a cosy ambience with its warm wooden furnishings, exposed brick walls, and rustic textures for an unfussy, laid-back feel. The one thing that elevates the warmth and homely atmosphere of the shop is the scent of fresh bakes from the selection of bagels resting on their trays, regularly replenished.

The cafe’s glossy bagels are great on their own or when slathered with thick swoops of their homemade cream cheese, which are available in speciality flavours such as Maple Pecan, Garlic Spring Onion, and Lemon Curd. But it’s the delightfully bougie bagel sandwiches – including favourites like Cheesesteak Sandwich (RM36.80) and Toffee Coffee (RM18.80) – that will have you ooh-ing at their sheer perfection.

Bonus: The Bagel Shop
Great for bagel sandwiches
Being called The Bagel Shop might feel a little misleading – especially when this particular bagel shop does not have a physical walk-in store with displays of baked goods and seats for patrons to enjoy them. But we aren’t complaining. As the store makes one of the most gorgeous bagels in town, it wouldn’t sit right with us to leave them off this list.
Image adapted from: @thebagel_shop via Instagram
The store cranks out bagels that are almost too perfect to eat – the circles are near flawless, the crust gorgeously golden and blistered, and the insides sturdy enough to act as vehicles for various fillings but soft and bouncy at the same time. Flavours run the gamut from classic poppy seed and cheese to unique ones such as sourdough and black sesame.

The store’s social pages even provide bagel sandwich recipes that are must-trys – trust when we say these monsters can be loaded with pretty much anything. You won’t be able to resist trying out a bulging Beef Bulgogi bagel sandwich or even a Nasi Lemak-themed one.
Orders can be made via The Bagel Shop’s WhatsApp, and you can send them a message on their Instagram account for more details.
