Carousel & Co. at Avenue K
Date nights and hangouts in Kuala Lumpur just got a playful upgrade with Carousel & Co.. Perched on the rooftop of Avenue K, this spot blends carnival-style games with a wide variety of food and handcrafted drinks.
With nine games to play and pints of beers and curated cocktails to order, your next outing with friends will finally make it out of the group chat and have everyone pleased.
A carnival-inspired hangout haven in KL
Carousel & Co. is one step above your one-stop entertainment hub with the usual darts, beer pong, and arcade games. This adults-only venue has an indoor carnival game area with food and drinks served at an in-house restaurant. It’s basically a playground for the grown-ups.
This spot takes its carnival theme seriously, too. Feel like you’ve been transported straight into a boardwalk carnival when you enter the space, with decor features like an adorable wall of carnival-style popcorn plushies. Patrons who opt to challenge themselves at the game stations will also get free-flow complimentary popcorn.
Once you get hungry, you’re covered at Carousel & Co.’s restaurant. Besides just snacking on popcorn, you can order from a menu that covers hearty mains and drinks that are surprisingly satisfying, making it easy to turn a game night into a proper dinner outing.
Are there admission fees for Carousel & Co.?
The game zone and restaurant at Carousel & Co. operate separately, so opt to drop in just for food or head straight for the games and skip a meal. Only the game zone will require a ticket per person, with each ticket giving you full access to nine interactive games, along with a complimentary popcorn bucket.
Tickets for the games start from RM50 on weekdays between 12pm and 3pm, RM60 between 3pm and 6pm every day, and RM70 from 6pm onwards.
Nine carnival-style games to challenge your friends
Upon entry, each player receives a game card, which unlocks access to all attractions and lets you keep track of your score with a tap on screens located around the venue. You’re also welcome to bring your drink along with you while you game, as there are special compartments at each game station to hold beverages.
As for the games, here are the highlights:
Hoofers
At Hoofers, you have to plop down on saddle-style seats and race against other participants. This horse-themed game is a mix of skill and luck, as you’ll need to guide balls through different levels to score. And yes, it gets competitive fast.
Each horse is given its own quirky name, like the crowd-favourite Heebie Jeebies, which you’ll have to help race to the finish line by clocking the fastest time possible.
High Flyers
High Flyers is a more chill, but equally fun, game. You’ll have to shoot and aim water at lit-up targets to raise a hot air balloon. This station will surely bring back childhood memories of aiming water from a pipe at our friends – but you won’t actually get soaked here, of course.
Rollfast
Think bowling, but with a twist. Precision and control will matter more than power and racing the clock with Rollfast, so even those who fuss about being bad at games will have fun with this game. With 12 balls for each match, you’ll have to swing the ball and let it roll up, so it lands in holes marked with different scores based on difficulty.
Corn Cascade
Corn Cascade is a chaotic game that will have you and your friends in fits of giggles at the end of a round. Players have to toss “popcorn” into popcorn buckets with lids that randomly open and close.
The fun part is that the rules are up to you and your friends to make. Scoop as much “popcorn” to toss and score as much points as possible, and strategise by leaning further forward for a better aim. But do be warned, a round of this game might just feel like a workout for your back and arms.
Snack Attack!
Snack Attack! is a classic carnival-style knockdown game, where speed and accuracy will be your best friends. The faster you hit a target with a ball, the higher your score on the leaderboard.
Fill your stomach with their food & drinks
You don’t have to worry about using up all your energy at the game stations. When you start to feel hungry or crave a drink, you can hit pause on the games and get to filling your hunger.
Carousel & Co. has Weekday Lunch Set options like the highlight Shroom Pesto Pasta (RM29.90) with a satisfying sauce that nicely balances basil and pine nuts, as well as the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl (RM33.90) and Chilli Oil Shrimp Sandwich and Chips (RM38.90). The dishes are generously portioned and good for sharing.
As for drinks, Carnival & Co.’s beverage menu spans over 16 pages, so there will be something for everyone. Alcoholic drinks are priced from RM28, and non-alcoholic drinks from RM12.
On weekdays, from Monday to Friday, Carousel & Co. also offers set lunch meals priced from RM29.90. Served between 12pm and 2.30pm, each set includes a main, soup, and drink. For a more carnival-themed dessert or mocktail, add on RM5 to get additional options such as s’mores, gelato, mocktails, or popcorn.
A bar with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers
Keeping with the carnival theme, Carousel & Co. has a bar area with drinks prepared from a carousel-inspired bar. The space also opens up to a balcony that has a good view of the Petronas Twin Towers.
How to get to Carousel & Co.
Carousel & Co. is easy to get to via public transportation. It’s located inside Avenue K, which is connected to KLCC LRT station. Ampang Park MRT station is a walkable 12-minute distance from the mall, too.
Parking is also available at the mall for those who are coming by private vehicle.
