Meet pandas Chen Xing & Xiao Yue at Zoo Negara

There’s now a fresh reason to visit Zoo Negara. Malaysia’s national zoo is now letting Malaysians say “Hello” to their newest giant panda residents, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue. The youthful panda pair have completed their quarantine period and have made their public debut at the upgraded Giant Panda Conservation Centre, drawing attention from locals and tourists alike.

If you’re planning to visit them, here’s what you need to know:

Pandas are no strangers to Zoo Negara. Before Chen Xing and Xiao Yue made their public debut, visitors fell in love with Xing Xing and Liang Liang, the adorable panda duo who arrived in Malaysia back in 2014. Over the years, the duo won hearts with their playful antics and their panda cubs, becoming the zoo’s ultimate crowd‑pleasers.

Now, with Xing Xing and Liang Liang now back in China, the spotlight has shifted to the younger pair, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, who are ready to charm a whole new generation of panda fans under Malaysia’s renewed conservation partnership with China. The cute duo arrived in Malaysia in late 2025 and underwent a mandatory quarantine period under specialised care before being introduced to the public earlier this month.

The panda exhibit is now open daily, giving visitors a close view of the gentle animals in their carefully prepared habitat.

Discounts for the kiddos till 24th January

Admission to Zoo Negara depends on whether you are a Malaysian or a non‑Malaysian visitor. Malaysian adults pay from RM40, while Malaysian children aged 3-12 years old pay from RM15.

For non‑Malaysian visitors, adult tickets are from RM80, with children’s tickets also priced separately.

Children under three, both Malaysian and non-Malaysian, can enter for free.

There’s even more good news for families planning a visit. To celebrate the introduction of the new giant panda pair and the upcoming festive season, Zoo Negara is offering a 50% discount on walk-in tickets for children aged 3-12, as shared on their official Instagram page.

Tickets for children, which are usually priced from RM18, are now available at half the price during the promotion, which runs from 11th to 24th January 2026.

A boost for conservation and tourism

The pandas’ arrival also came with an announcement from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Malaysian government has approved an additional RM5 million in funding to support Zoo Negara’s operations, maintenance, and conservation facilities this year.

This investment is expected to improve visitor experience, strengthen conservation infrastructure, and reinforce the zoo’s position as one of the country’s key wildlife destinations.

Chen Xing & Xiao Yue are now officially part of Zoo Negara

With Chen Xing and Xiao Yue now officially part of Zoo Negara’s growing family, visitors can look forward to an up-close encounter with two of the world’s most beloved animals, while playing a small part in a much larger conservation story.

So be sure to free up your time and visit these cuties at Zoo Negara.
