Newlyweds brave flood for wedding photoshoot
Wedding receptions are happy times for couples and their loved ones. But there are times when things don’t go according to plan due to unforeseen circumstances.
Determined not to let anything get in their way, this Malaysian couple decided to carry on with their wedding reception despite the recent disastrous floods that affected the location they had booked for their celebrations. They subsequently went viral for having a wedding photoshoot in knee-high flood waters.
Flood no issue for newlyweds’ celebrations in Klang
Several videos of the newlyweds’ unique wedding reception was shared on TikTok account @asyikonnnnnnnnnn on Sunday, 19th December 2021. The first of the shared videos garnered over 8 million views, with many netizens cheering on the couple for going ahead with their wedding despite the flood.

In the 20-second video, the happy couple was seen with huge smiles on their faces as they posed for photos in knee-high muddy flood waters. The couple was also filmed having their meals at a partially-submerged dining table.
Their joy was also evident while they sat at their traditional wedding dais even with flood waters nearly spilling over the edge and just a handful of guests present.

In an interview with mStar, the stunning bride Sofiyah Nabilah Sulaiman shared that she and her husband had gotten married on Saturday, 18th December in Puncak Alam, Selangor.
They had planned a wedding reception at Meru, Klang at a homestay to accommodate about 200 of their close friends and families, including 20 that had travelled from out of state. Unfortunately, the rain continued to fall relentlessly after they had set up the dais and tents, with water reaching up to their calves in the afternoon and waist by the evening.
The couple ended up having to cancel their reception as most of their guests could not access the homestay wedding reception venue, which they had booked back in October.
But they still had catering and photographer in attendance, which led the sporting couple to kick off their shoes and take part in the photoshoot in the murky flood waters.

When asked by the Malay news portal about the concerns from netizens over the state of her dress, Sofiyah assured everyone that it was not a rental dress, which was why she wasn’t afraid of getting into the flood to pose for photos.
She also shared that she hopes to hold another proper reception with her family and friends present.
Couple carries on with wedding photoshoot despite flood
It’s not easy to see plans for wedding receptions dashed after hours and money spent planning them. So we applaud Sofiyah and her husband for keeping their cheery outlook towards changed plans for their wedding reception due to the flood, and making the most out of the otherwise difficult circumstances.
