Malaysia may be pulling all stops to halt the spread of COVID-19 in the country, but as more individuals come forward for testing, more cases are being confirmed as positive in the country.

On 24th March 2020, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that there has been another COVID-19 death in the country. This now brings the current death toll in Malaysia for COVID-19 to 15

The deceased was a 71-year-old man from Malacca who falls under the high-risk category due to his age and health background. The patient suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, as stated during a media conference by Abdullah earlier today.

He was suspected to have come into contact with a tabligh attendee who had tested positive for COVID-19. This harrowing reminder proves the importance of going for COVID-19 screenings if you’re showing symptoms and practicing strict discipline to carry out the 14-day quarantine.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on 18th March 2020 before his health continually degraded. He was pronounced dead at 5.35AM, 24 March 2020.

Malaysia COVID-19 death toll at 15

We’ve been seeing a daily increase of confirmed COVID-19 cases, which just goes to show how important it is for Malaysians to play our role and adhere to the Movement Control Order

We can help curb the spread of this virus by simply staying home and hopefully we’ll soon begin to see a downward trend in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
