At some point in our lives, we’ve all fantasised about being the main character of a fictional faraway land where enchanted forests and distant galaxies are plenty, and where the shimmering underwater realm has magical creatures to befriend.
That daydream comes deliciously close to reality at D Adventurous Project, Penang’s first immersive art exhibition that whisks you away on an adventure in a fantastical world where the protagonist is none other than you. Ongoing from now till 29th June 2025 at 1st Avenue Mall, the immersive art wonderland unfolds like a journey through the pages of an adventure book through 14 art zones that create a vivid reality of your whimsical tale.

What to expect at D Adventurous Project
Immersive art experiences aren’t foreign to us Malaysians, with many large-scaled ones in the Klang Valley such as Immersify KL attracting throngs of visitors week after week. Now, Penang folks will have the chance to savour the multisensory installation experience with the debut of D Adventurous Project at 1st Avenue Mall.

Running daily from 10am to 9.45pm until 29th June 2025, the exhibition invites all to feast their eyes and senses on 14 uniquely designed art zones that transform into ethereal spaces through the fusion of cutting-edge technology, enchanting digital displays, and interactive elements such as motion sensors.
Some things to look forward to besides the plethora of stunning photo ops throughout the exhibition include an AR photo booth and a personalised storybook featuring an AI character of you as the leading character – anything that’s dedicated to fueling your “make believe” sesh here.
There’ll also be interactive workshops that offer weekend-only sessions where you can learn in depth about the art and tech involved in the creation of the installation, as well as a marketplace and a small cafe for visitors to bring home some handcrafted goods or to grab a bite after the installation.

A journey through 14 captivating zones

The Luminescent Journey

One step in, and you’re enveloped in a reverie of the spellbinding seascape called The Luminescent Journey. The entire space mimics the iridescent glow and currents of the sea, with huge kinetic jellyfish sculptures floating serenely above, their tendrils and domes glowing in pulsing hues of aqua, lavender, and gold.
Illusionary Haven & Whimsical Adventure
Illusionary Haven is like that enchanted realm of a forest that looks straight out of a fantasy movie. Blooming with rich cascading foliage, dappled in sunlight and filled with mirror panels to create the illusion of infinite space and hidden dimensions, the lush forest feels like a surreal world to be immersed in already – but wait till you see what you haven’t yet been seeing.
Take a pause from your photo snapping for a bit, and scan the QR code displayed at the Whimsical Adventure zone, that is right opposite the enchanted forest.

And all at once, as if a hidden magical world is uncovered, the place transforms – you’ll find Peranakan-inspired animals adorned with traditional motifs roaming around the foliage and weaving through the exhibition, making the experience teeter somewhere between folklore and fantasy.
This augmented reality (AR) installation isn’t just decorative. Go ahead and reach out to touch the creatures, and watch the animals, lights, and colours react, bend, and respond to your touch.
Garden of Eden & Rainbow Dreamscape
These next zones will be the perfect backdrops for photos – the Garden of Eden is a surreal botanical space with lush greenery and wild florals bathed in an ethereal mist and an explosion of colours. Completed with the ambient hums of the rustling of leaves and song of the birds, the garden feels surreally alive, like a modern reimagining of Eden.
Right next to the garden is the Rainbow Dreamscape that has cascading pastel-hued blossoms wrapped around a curving staircase that’s tinged in a whimsy glow. Feel free to pose by the staircase and watch as your photos turn out irresistibly dreamy.
Whimsical Galaxy

For a touch of cosmic romance, head to the Whimsical Galaxy zone and forget that you’re on Earth at that very moment. The installation is spellbinding with a huge luminous crescent moon as the centrepiece, glimmering rock formations, and an immersive backdrop that shimmers hypnotically. Every step you take and every touch creates bursts and swirls of trailing stardust – entrancing, to say the least.
Ticket prices for D Adventurous Project in Penang
To step into a world of immersive storytelling, you can book your tickets to D Adventurous Project on their official website, with various pricing options as well as value packages for larger groups. The rates for standard admission are as below:
- Standard: RM68/pax
- MyKad holders: RM48/adult (13 years and above) | RM38/child (12 years and below)
- MyKad Family package: RM148 (2 adults and 2 children)
- MyKad Group packages for 10 pax and above: RM40/adult | RM30/children
Upon purchase, you’ll have to pick an admission time, with 10am being the earliest slot and 6pm being the last. Visitors will be granted an hour per ticket to explore the installation.
How to get to D Adventurous Project at 1st Avenue Mall in Penang
D Adventurous Project is located on the second floor of 1st Avenue Mall, which is right in the heart of George Town, Penang. You can head over to the mall conveniently via private vehicle as there are plenty of parking spots available within the mall’s multilevel car park.
The parking rates for the mall are RM2 for the first 2 hours during the weekdays, RM3 for the first 3 hours during the weekends, and RM1 for every subsequent hour.
For those relying on public transit, the free-of-charge Rapid Penang bus service stops at the Komtar Bus Terminal, which is just a short 5-minute walk away from the mall.
