Man calls himself Datuk, slaps two in PJ hotpot restaurant
Two viral videos showing an older man assaulting a younger man and a woman in a Petaling Jaya hotpot restaurant have been circulating like wildfire across various social media platforms, including Facebook and Youtube.
The incident, which reportedly took place two days ago on 13th January at Tropicana Avenue, has also been picked up by a number of news outlets who re-shared it on their Facebook pages. In return, the videos amassed thousands of infuriated comments from netizens, and for good reason.
The so-called Datuk’s violent behaviour appalled Malaysians
The videos started off with a man in black clothing who menacingly cornered a young man by the wall while tugging at his shirt, then proceeded to slap him across the face.

A shorter man, presumably the “Datuk”, went up to the young man next, pushed off two men who had been restraining him, and hit the young man multiple times on the head.
The “Datuk” was so enraged that he can even be seen reaching to pick up a large soup base pot before being stopped by the men beside him. As they tried to escort him out of the establishment, he went over and slapped a woman who was standing by the entrance. The woman is believed to be the victim’s girlfriend.

Police have since arrested the assaulters
The latest report by Malay Mail revealed that the “Datuk” and his accomplice were arrested yesterday.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal stated in a separate report by The Star that the brawl ensued when the victim confronted the assaulters – who were visibly drunk – for talking too loudly and shouting at the staff incessantly.

Witnesses said that the “Datuk” then stormed out to make a phone call. Two men in black T-shirts arrived shortly after and went ahead to attack the victim.
The Star also divulged that the so-called “Datuk” had a police record for criminal intimidation from back in 2019.
Man who claims to be a Datuk assaults couple
Not only is physical assault a criminal offence, but it is also derogatory and endangering to the victims. Brawls also cause property damage and create an incredibly unpleasant situation for the people around them, so here’s a reminder to never start, or engage in one.
We hope the couple didn’t sustain any major injuries from the attack and that the police investigate this case carefully.
