Dog waits overnight for owner who abandoned him
Dogs are called man’s best friend for good reason – they’ll stick by your side through thick and thin, as shown by this brave dog who sacrificed his life to protect his family from a poisonous snake. While there are those who return the love and shower them with limitless affection, there are others who own pets on an impulse and end up abandoning them when the going gets tough.
This woman in KL happened to stumble across an abandoned dog in front of TTDI Park in KL. The dog had been waiting for its owner overnight to return and bring him home, and refusing to eat from fear or wander away even though it had been released from its leash.
Dog stayed in the same spot waiting for owner’s return
Netizen Vivian Wong took to Facebook to share how she had found the dog, along with several photos of how it was left by the roadside by its owner, on 22nd March 2021.
According to the Facebook post, the owner had allegedly abandoned the dog in front of TTDI park with a red leash and collar. From the looks of things, the dog had been set free and given a bucket of water to sip on. However, Wong noted that it was refusing to eat as it was “just so scared”.

Photos that she shared of the dog when she returned at night, showed the abandoned pet in the same area as it had been in before, still waiting for its owner to return and take it home. The dog did not wander far off even though its leash was no longer attached, merely switching spots from the open space by the neighbourhood street to what looks like a barren plant bed just next to it.

Wong posted the photos aiming to raise awareness about abandoning pets in public areas, pleading with the owner to return and take the dog home. If not, she suggested that the owner reach out to people to help with food if money was the issue, or put the dog up for adoption as “Abandoning it [the dog] is NOT an option”.

Wong updated her post yesterday, 25th March, to let everyone know that the owner didn’t come back for the dog even though it had waited in the unfamiliar area until the next day. Fortunately, she also shared that the dog is currently being fostered by a kind samaritan.
Netizens upset over abandoned dog
Netizens have reached out to share Wong’s post in hopes of finding a forever home for the dog. Many had presumed that the dog might be lost initially. But it didn’t stop them from getting upset.
One netizen, for starters, commented, “Or it may be lost? Poor thing…I’m going to share and hope either it gets to go home or find a new home”. To this, Wong raised up the fact that the owner left the dog with a red leash, suggesting that it might have been intentional. She also said that the owner may be aware that there were kind souls around the park who often fed stray dogs who might be kind to the dog too. However, because the dog may have been well cared for and fed daily meals, she worried that it might not survive under these harsher conditions.

Another Facebook user also shared how upsetting the sight was, commenting, “So upsetting and infuriating at the same time. Why are these such people around…If they can no longer care for them, at least have some decency to find them a new home.”

Another netizen wanted the owner to be responsible for their actions, saying, “Any CCTV around that area? Action should be taken against the irresponsible owner.”

Dog abandoned in KL waits overnight for owner’s return
It’s hard to excuse anyone who opts to abandon their furkids when hard times hit, as there are various ways to help these pets find another home if one is unable to care for them anymore – including sending them to an animal shelter, or reaching out to friends or the online community to search for a new home for them.
So we applaud Wong for raising awareness about this abandoned dog in TTDI Park who waited overnight for its owner. Because she stepped in, the dog was able to find a foster home.
