Dog goes viral for queueing up to ‘buy’ nasi lemak
Dogs get up to amusing antics all the time, frequently entertaining their human companions such as a dog from Thailand who refused to get off a car’s hood, or another who bowed to his owner’s mum on Thailand’s Mother’s Day.
Now, Malaysia has its very own stories of dog antics, as a Facebook post by Nasi Lemak Jambatan Tamparuli which documented a stray dog ‘queueing up’ to buy nasi lemak from their roadside stall in Kuching went viral.
Stall operators create hilarious comic strips
The stall operators who managed to capture the dog’s antics even went on to pose with the dog, and created a comic strip complete with dialogue to depict the dog’s purchasing journey to get his share of nasi lemak.
It started off with the dog standing in the queue and waiting patiently like a civilised, good boy.
When it was his turn, he “requested” a packet of nasi lemak and “inquired” about the price.
Then, he found out that it would cost him RM2 for a packet of nasi lemak.
Upon realising that he didn’t have cash with him, he “negotiated” by asking if the stall accepted e-wallet payment.
All’s well that ended well when the dog managed to happily snag a piece of fried chicken for free. While the dialogue was all made up, the grin on the dog’s face as he enjoyed the fruits of his labour was genuine.
But that wasn’t even the end of the story, as the stall posted a follow-up photo in the comments section describing how the dog brought his friends over to the eatery – likely for more free food. The stall also praised the doggos for abiding by the social distancing measures, as they were spotted waiting in line while maintaining a distance from each other.
Netizens touched by the stall operators’ kindness
Netizens were not only clearly tickled by the humorous post, but they were also quick to convey their admiration towards the stall operators for showing kindness to animals.
Many commenters were moved by their gesture, and wished for their business to thrive in return. Facebook user Jeanette Teoh commented, “God bless your kind soul…” and wished the owners good business and prosperity.
Another Facebook user Tun Marcaida Kali commented in Malay and said that even though he was feeling depressed, he managed to break out into a smile when browsing through the comic strip.
Malaysians show compassion towards stray animals
Though the post may have gone viral because of the stall operators’ creativity in making light of the situation, a large part of it can be attributed to their compassion and kindness towards stray animals – a heartwarming quality many Malaysians admire and are happy to witness when it happens.
