Cat With Park Seo-Joon’s Itaewon Class “Haircut” Tickles Netizens With Its Fancy ‘Do

Exasperated cat sports Itaewon Class “haircut”

Cats put up with their owners’ antics as much as we put up with theirs – such as when this Malaysian man speared forks through a food cover to keep his cat from sleeping on it. So when we come across photos of exasperated cats on the internet, cat owners can all relate. Which is why this exasperated cat sporting a “hairdo” with blunt fringe – akin to Itaewon Class’s titular character’s well-known one – has gone viral and became the latest addition of cat memes we already have on the internet to express our #feels.

Uncanny resemblance to titular character of K-drama

From “Angy” cats and vibing ones, to the well-used “thumbs-up crying cat” meme – photos of these cats are super relatable because they sum up our reactions and feelings when words don’t suffice.

Joining this long list of cat memes is this exasperated cat sporting a bowl cut. The photo of the cat has gone viral since it was uploaded a couple of days ago, making its way to Reddit and 9Gag, and shared online by netizens on their social media pages. It was also shared to Malaysian Facebook group, Kucing Sepahkan Apa Hari Ini?, on 2nd March 2021.

The viral photos show a collage of the same cat in various poses, but sporting the same exasperated look and a “bowlcut” – courtesy of natural coloured markings on the cat’s fur.

Malaysians – whether boys or girls – might remember our mums subjecting us to similar haircuts when we were young. This is probably why many netizens in the group have been tickled by the photo.

K-drama fans also came out in the comments to point out the similarities between the cat’s “hairdo” and Park Sae-ro-yi’s – the lead character in Itaewon Class played by South Korean actor, Park Seo Joon.

If you have yet to hear about Itaewon Class, it’s a Netflix K-drama series about an ex-con fighting to keep his bar and employees afloat, based off the webtoon of the same name. It was always one of the Top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix in Malaysia when it was airing.

Netizens tickled by cat’s exasperated espression

Many netizens commented on the photo, comparing the cat to Park Sae-ro-yi, with some even jokingly calling the cat “oppa” – a term meaning “older brother” in Korean. Others referenced hairstyles known of members from The Beatles, a British rock band, and the late Bruce Lee’s signature blunt-fringe hairdo.

Netizens take a wild stab at similarities between real life people, inanimate objects and the viral cat.

Animated characters were not left out of the mix, with someone commenting that the cat must be a member of Dora the Explorer’s crew, as it has a similar ‘do with the lead character of the animated children’s show.

Others also came out share how they once sported the same haircut as the cat, including netizen Sabilah Ishak, who commented, “Looks like the haircuts we get when we’re back to school”.

Exasperated cat with blunt fringe haircut goes viral

Cat memes are a dime a dozen online. Nonetheless, they never fail to bring us joy with how funny, adorable and relatable they are. This exasperated cat with a blunt-fringe haircut is a worthy addition to the list, and we’re glad it’s giving Malaysians a laugh online, which is always welcomed as we’re fighting out this pandemic.
