A 4-minute viral video involving a group of women and men acting violently over parking spots and potted plants began circulating on social media over the weekend.
Initially starting off as a verbal squabble, the incident quickly escalated into a fracas shortly after a man ran into the scene, acting violently by breaking a pot of plants and eventually pushing a woman who was arguing with another man away.
The entire group was then seen pushing each other and engaging in a physical altercation with one of the men, who was also seen holding a sharp object in his hand threatening the women’s group.
Police to investigate the incident despite withdrawn reports
On 13th June 2021, Free Malaysia Today reported that the two groups had lodged a police report after the incident which is now being scrutinised under Section 427, 269, and 148 of the Penal Code, and also for breaching COVID-19 SOPs.
The report quoted Shah Alam police chief Baharudin Mat Taib, who stated that the case is still being looked into although the two parties have withdrawn their complaints.
“The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor as soon as possible for a decision,” it said.
If proven guilty, those who were involved in the fracas can be put in jail or fined.

While authorities are already dealing with the issue, it is important for all of us to realise that violence is certainly not the solution to any problem, no matter how small or big it can be.
While the FMCO has put mental strain on many of us, it’s wise to practise patience when dealing with difficult situations in life. Always remember that violence achieves nothing but causes physical harm to people and that oftentimes, there are better ways of solving problems than getting into a fight.
