FMCO Extended Nationwide Till 28th June 2021, SOPs To Remain The Same As Before

FMCO extended nationwide from 15th June till 28th June 2021

Daily COVID-19 cases in Malaysia has seen a decrease from previous record highs recorded ever since the full lockdown MCO 3.0, or FMCO, kicked in on 1st June 2021. But with more room for improvement, the government has since announced an extension of the FMCO from 15th to 28th June. The current FMCO was slated to end on Monday, 14th June.

Cases still high the cause for extension

In a press conference held today, 11th June, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the extension of the FMCO for another 2 weeks, as quoted by The Star.

The current SOPs for Phase 1 of MCO 3.0 will remain as is, with selected manufacturing, businesses and industries only allowed to operate from the set hours of 8AM to 8PM.

The government is said to have come to the decision on the advice of the Ministry of Health (KKM) at a meeting held by the National Security Council (MKN) today. Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was also in attendance.

The extension was made as Malaysia has been recording high counts of daily COVID-19 cases during the FMCO, with an average of 6,871 cases as of Thursday. Daily cases have also yet to fall below the 5,000 mark since the full lockdown was implemented, even though infectivity rates have dropped to a new low.

Today, Malaysia recorded 6,849 new COVID19 cases, as reported by KKM.

FMCO extended from 15th June, for 2 weeks

The extension of the FMCO comes as a bummer for many who are unable to get back to their daily lives. But as COVID-19 daily numbers have yet to see a steady decline, with today’s addition of over 6,000 cases a rise from yesterday’s count of 5,671, it seems only necessary to continue staying at home and only leaving our houses for essentials and necessities.
