Initial D-inspired cafe in Malaysia
Every nook and cranny in Subang Jaya seems to feature an interesting, aesthetic cafe for us to stumble across on the weekends. Another one that has joined this list recently is Fujiwara Tofu Shop – yes, fans of Initial D, the same one from the famed manga and anime series.
This themed cafe, located in an industrial park in Subang Jaya, lets diners and die-hard fans step into the world of Initial D’s titular character, Takumi Fujiwara. You can dine on Japanese black tofu, race your friends on the cafe’s arcade machines, and snap photos at the legit looking cafe entrance that brings the iconic fictional setting to life.

Fans of Initial D will be pleasantly surprised when they arrive here. The cafe’s facade closely replicates the tofu shop in the manga and anime series – from the awning sign to the location of the entrance.

The entire recreation is so legit that the front has quickly become a popular photo-taking spot.

Step inside the cafe, and you’ll be swept further into the fictional world, with Initial D posters, car miniatures, and merch found throughout the cafe space. There’s even a life-sized figure of Takumi Fujiwara, and the exact model of his car – a Toyota AE86 – in the middle of the cafe floor.
Even if you’re not acquainted with Initial D, the dim garage vibes of the two-storey cafe still makes it a great place to hang out with your friends – especially if arcade racing is something you enjoy.
Besides the unique decor, you can also enjoy homemade tau fu fah and Japanese rice bowls at Fujiwara Tofu Shop.

Just like the fictional tofu shop, the cafe serves crispy, flavourful tofu-based snacks such as their drool-worthy Homemade Black Tofu (RM15) – a must-try signature dish that is crispy on the outside and incredibly soft on the inside.

Apart from their tofu dishes, they also serve a selection of donburi. If you’re looking for something more filling, we recommend trying their Chicken Katsu Don (RM24.90) – a bed of fluffy rice is drenched with thick, rich Japanese curry and served with crispy deep-fried chicken cutlets.

You can also try their take on pasta – Garlic Butter Prawn Spaghetti (RM24.90), a buttery and garlicky spaghetti topped with a generous amount of juicy, succulent prawns.

End your meal with something fresh and sweet. Their silky and smooth tofu pudding, Homemade Tofufa (RM5) or a local favourite, Homemade Soymilk with Cincao (RM7), are worth a try.
