Gombak Integrated Terminal To Begin Operations On 15th March, Just In Time For Hari Raya

Terminal Bersepadu Gombak to launch on 15th March

Reunions and food may be the hallmarks of festivals in Malaysia, but so are the congested roads and public transportation hubs as we balik kampung to spend time with loved ones.

For those who journey by bus, there’ll be the launch of Terminal Bersepadu Gombak (TBG), also known as Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (GITT), to look forward to. It’s set to begin operations on 15th March 2025, easing the congestion at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) just in time for the Hari Raya celebrations.

A new 7-storey terminal for easier travels

Terminal Bersepadu Gombak will launch in phases, starting 15th March. Operations will commence with bus drop-off services for passengers traveling in from the East Coast states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan. Pick-up services for travel to these destinations will be offered in the following week, with the terminal expected to be fully operational by May.

The new terminal aims to alleviate the daily bustle at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, integrating bus depots and the Gombak Light Rail Transit (LRT), while serving as a link to the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL). For the uninitiated, the ECRL will connect Kota Bahru, Kelantan, with Port Klang, Selangor, via a 665km-long railway with 20 stations. It is currently at 79% completion, as reported by Bernama.

For more convenient travel, TBG comprises 7 storeys – three floors are dedicated to bus services while the other four will be occupied by retail shops to operate as a shopping mall. The terminal will boast facilities such as designated prayer areas, ATMs, and currency exchange services, as well as restaurants, convenience stores, and health and beauty shops.

On TBG’s Facebook page, some eateries that commuters can look out for include Tealive, The Chicken Rice Shop, and Subway.

There are plans to install a travelator to ease travel between the Gombak ECRL station with the terminal too, as the stations are located about 100 metres apart.

A final assessment by the Ministry and the Public Works Department will precede the launch of the terminal, to ensure all amenities are ready for public use.

New TBG to serve commuters travelling on the East Coast

The inauguration of TBG is anticipated to streamline travel processes, particularly benefitting those journeying from and to the East Coast. With its timely launch ahead of the Raya celebrations, it’ll help ease the travel woes of East Coast commuters.
