Grumpy Bagels in Sentul, KL
The bagel-less Sentul now has a spot that’s bringing big and warm bagels to the neighbourhood. It’s none other than the homegrown Grumpy Bagels, which has been entertaining an audience of bagel lovers at its first location in Jalan Kamuning since 2024.
The shop’s new location has a constant line of patrons urgently waiting to place their orders since it opened in late January. If you’re curious as to why, here are your hints: the shop’s rustic farmous aesthetics and, of course, the hunky bready beauties.
A former depot transformed into a rustic farmhouse bagel shop

The new Grumpy Bagels space is not unlike its debut spot, housed in a formerly abandoned bungalow.
It occupies a once-forgotten building, the Diesel Room, that’s part of Sentul Depot. The depot is made up of several buildings from the early 1900s that were once used as workshops for railway workers and storehouses for trains.

While the space has been transformed into a buzzy TikTok-approved bagel shop with even buzzier bagels, it retains much of the building’s historic charm. There are high ceilings and open-brick walls, complemented by rustic wood furnishing and vintage decor items that altogether nail that perfect rustic farmhouse look.

More hot bagel sandwiches & meals

The new Sentul branch changes it up slightly with its food options. It has an expanded menu of hot bagel meals, aside from the usual orders of plump bagels at the counter for go-to cream cheese schmears, which are priced at RM8-RM10.

Some menu highlights include the vegetarian-friendly Shroom Bagel Sandwich (RM28). The bagels are so huge and fluffy, they almost lose their signature bagel hole. Inside the bready creation, garlic cream cheese meets a deep-fried mushroom patty that’s squishable but also crisp.

Not just bagels, there are also menu options like the Tuscan Roasted Chicken (RM34). Tendy and juicy roasted chicken is served with mashed potatoes and a radiant rosemary herb sauce, which was satisfying, but slightly underseasoned in our opinion.

The new Grumpy Bagels in KL’s Sentul Depot

No surprises, the new Grumpy Bagels has a one-hour dining limit for patrons to help keep tables moving for hungry patrons. It’s safer to come right around its opening to get your share of meaty bagels without the long queues.
