7 Halloween Events In KL & PJ To Check Out In 2023 If You Want To Get Spooked

Halloween is just a few days away. If we aren’t already stockpiling candy to munch on while binge-watching horror movies, we’re looking for ways to get spooked – with no actual ghosts involved, of course. To spice up your October end, we rounded up 7 Halloween 2023 events to check out in Kuala Lumpur involving everything from journeying through horror-themed exhibitions, to donning your best Halloween costume for a discounted meal.


1. Solve your way out of a sinister haunted hotel at Hauntu


When it comes to spine-chilling attractions in KL, Hauntu is a regular hotspot for Malaysians looking for a chilling adventure, no matter the time of the year. Dubbed Malaysia’s first immersive horror experience, this escape room in KL lets you journey through the Haunted Colle Eastern Hotel – perfect for Halloween.

During the 60-minute experience, you’ll have to climb, crawl, and decode your way out of rooms within the hotel, set in the yesteryears – with jumpscares and role players set to distract you. 

Admission is RM65 per pax, with supervision required for visitors between the ages of 8 and 14 years old. You’ll be entering the escape room in a group of 10 players, so you’ll want to jio your friends.

2. Encounter infamous Malaysian ghosts at Sunway Lagoon’s Nights of Fright

Sunway Lagoon’s Nights Of Fright is back to thrill adrenaline-seekers this spooky season. Themed Festival Of Fear, the event will excite visitors with 11 thrill rides, a haunted theatre, two scare zones, and several themed haunted houses. There are also wax museums where you can meet notorious horror movie characters like Pennywise and Ghost Face.

If you have the guts, then be prepared to enter the highly anticipated scare zones, including Slasher Street and Siren’s Cove – infamous Hollywood killers and iconic Asian hantus wander the streets to jumpscare you as you pass. 

Tickets are priced from RM98/pax. The park opens on the weekends and on Halloween itself – from 27th to 29th October and 3rd-5th November between 7.30pm and 11.30pm. You can purchase tickets here.

3. Tread between reality & hell at Junji Ito Horror House

The famous Japanese horror comic master, Junji Ito, is here in Malaysia. This Halloween, let his macabre works send chills down your spine at the Junji Ito Horror House exhibit, opening from now till 30th November at LaLaport BBCC.

With characters such as Tomei and Soichi leading the horror experience in two halls, the event features artworks and displays from Ito’s uniquely terrifying world to create an immersive experience for visitors.

Tickets are priced RM59/pax for entry into a single hall and RM89/pax for a double hall experience on the weekends. All tickets come with a face mask and a RM20 shopping voucher, which can be used at the merchandise store.

You can also check out the free-entry Junji Ito pop-up at Kwai Chai Hong, which opens till 12th November. Here you’ll find several photo spots for shutterbugs. If you have tickets to the paid exhibition, you can enjoy a free shuttle bus service from Kwai Chai Hong to LaLaport BBCC on the weekends.

4. Come face-to-face with 20 spine-chilling zones at The Conjuring Universe Tour

Horror movie fans can do more than just binge on spine-chilling movies this weekend by dropping by The Conjuring Universe Tour at The Curve shopping mall.

Get ready for a scary adventure with an immersive walk-through experience inspired by iconic scenes from movies from The Conjuring film series.

Follow the footsteps of characters from the film when you stroll through the 20 zones here that replicate iconic film sets, such as The Perron’s Room and Warden Artefact Room. 

After you’ve bravely ventured through the zones, you can stop by the merch store here to snag exclusive movie-themed items at the retail shop. Tickets are priced from RM80/pax, depending on the time of your visit.

5. Dress your best outfit to a hidden bar, Benang The Second Chapter

Dress in your best costume and sip on cocktails when you drop by Benang The Second Chapter. They’re hosting a Great Gatsby’s Haunted Mansion party, so expect to get glitz and glam like in the movie – but with a spooky twist, of course.

The hidden bar, which serves creative cocktails and small bites, will be awarding the best-dressed patron with a bottle of champagne – so you can expect a night of all treats, and no tricks.

6. Take photos with spooky characters at Museum of Illusions

When it comes to trippy photos, there’s no better place to head to than the Museum Of Illusions. For Halloween, they’ve planned a series of spooky specials for visitors, including performances and a cosplay walkabout

For the latter, you can catch all manner of mythical figures, from fairies to vampires roaming around KL – specifically at Ansa Hotel Lobby, Lot 10, Pavilion Bukit Bintang, and of course, at the museum itself.

You can join in on the fun by donning your own creative costume, but this is not a requirement. Tickets to the museum are priced RM40/adult and RM30/child, or you can bring the whole fam and enjoy slashed prices with the Family Bundle (RM95), which admits two adults and two kids.

7. Dress up and score 15% off your spooky meal at Kafe Dolce

If you’re looking to celebrate Halloween without all the tricks and thrills, Kafe Dolce is hosting a Halloween party for 1-night only. Diners who dress up will get to shave 15% off their entire bill, while families with kiddos can be treated to Halloween rings and candies if they happen to be among the first 50 customers.

Halloween Brick-Or-Treat at Legoland Malaysia

If you’re in Johor then you’re in luck, because monsters are taking over Legoland. There’ll be a huge party this year at the theme park with live shows, fun activities, and free Legos to be given away. There will also be an after-show party at the Lego Studio 4D.

Some activity highlights are Build-a-Monster, where you get to build your very own monster out of Lego; Trick-a-Tune, where you get to dance and play on a giant piano; and Trick-or-Treat, where the kiddos can gather as much candies as they can at the Candy Trail.
