Here Be Dragons in TTDI, KL

Most cafes in KL’s popular TTDI serve pretty pastries and aesthetic appetisers. But Here Be Dragons stands out amid the flurry of cafes there – it offers patrons a chance to be their own adventurer, by providing a variety of tabletop role-playing games and hosting Dungeons & Dragons sessions.

What does a typical D&D session look like at Here Be Dragons?

For those new to Dungeons & Dragons, also called D&D, here’s a brief explanation of the game. It’s a fantasy tabletop role-playing game where a group of players create their own original characters and act as them while they set forth on a multitude of adventures. These sessions are accompanied by a Dungeon Master responsible for the technical aspects of the game, such as setting rules, dice rolls, and dictating the result of each player’s actions throughout the game.

At Here Be Dragons, there are several D&D booking sessions offered to customers, depending on age and language. They host D&D sessions in Malay and English, with sessions separated into age categories: all ages or ages 9-12.

All of their sessions are priced at RM25 per person, regardless of age group and language.

For newbies, no worries – these pre-scheduled sessions are hosted by a seasoned Dungeon Master and supplemented with everything you need to begin a game, like character sheets and dice. The team at Here By Dragons will also go through the game mechanics and rules of D&D in each session.

Just take note to arrive 20-30 minutes before your session, so you and your D&D geng can get familiar with D&D before actually starting a game.

Apart from hosting D&D sessions, Here By Dragons also organises art events and workshops where customers can partake in painting lessons. A board game cafe that caters to D&D fans

Tabletop role-playing games, D&D, and board games are all niche hobbies that may not cater to the general audience. However, Here Be Dragons is slowly changing that notion by building an inclusive community and environment to foster the love for strategic and narrative gameplay in the city.

Being a cafe, Here Be Dragon does serve a small selection of refreshments and tidbits that will fuel you and your D&D pals nicely between turns.
