12-Year-Old Homeless Orphan’s Parents Died Of COVID-19; Kind M’sian Buys Clothes & Enrols Him In School

Helping hand for homeless orphan boy

Most of us are fortunate enough to have parents who dote on us while growing up. But it isn’t the same case for everyone, including this 12-year-old orphan boy in Klang who was left homeless after his parents passed away from COVID-19 earlier this year in January.

Thankfully, there are always kind-hearted Malaysians around ready to help out those in need. After being notified of the boy’s plight, Uztaz Ebit Lew, who is well-known for his good deeds locally and abroad, bought him new clothes and enrolled him in school so he no longer had to live alone on the streets.

Left alone after parents pass on from COVID-19

On 4th May 2021, Ebit Lew took to his Facebook account to share how he was moved to reach out to the young boy after several individuals shared the boy’s story with him.

According to the post, the boy was homeless and sleeping on the streets in Bukit Raja Klang. He had been left to fend for himself ever since his parents passed away from COVID-19.

With the help of kind passers-by, he was able to feed himself.

When Lew met the boy, he shared that he felt like crying over the boy’s show of kindness and manners, and what he had to go through at such a young age. Lew also noted that the boy was in observance of the fasting month of Ramadan in spite of his current living situation.

Likewise, the boy is said to have had tears in his eyes when Lew asked about his parents, even telling the preacher that he “no longer had anybody in his life”.

In a series of photos he shared along with the story, Lew is seen taking the boy to a pasar raya to purchase a new pair of sneakers and clothes to help the boy get back on his feet.

As the boy consented to being enrolled at a madrasah school after being asked by Lew, the preacher also purchased white robes for him to wear.

Lew also shared in the post that he had taken the young boy to the police station to file a report.

To cap off his post, Lew said that he prays for the child to succeed in life.

Netizens praise preacher’s kind deed

Lew’s Facebook post had many netizens coming out to praise the preacher for his kind deed, and to send their well wishes to the young boy.

Eugene Elisa, for one, commented, “Your challenges are burdensome, adik. May your life continue to improve after this. Thank you Uztaz Ebit Lew and everyone for helping this boy. God bless.”

Homeless orphan in Klang returns to school with preacher’s help

It’s hard for an adult to survive on the streets with little to nothing in their pockets, much less children who often depend on adults to get through their days. So we applaud Ebit Lew for reaching out and helping the young boy, and wish the boy all the best as he starts a new chapter in his life.
