The viral bakery brand has announced that it will officially debut in Malaysia on 12th September, bringing its famous melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts to local fans who have only drooled over them online.

Unlike traditional Western-style doughnuts that are often spongy and sugary, the viral Japanese i’m donut?, founded by chef Ryouta Hirako, became known for its signature nama doughnut. These treats resemble delicate, ultra-soft fried pastries with a uniquely airy texture that almost melts in your mouth.

The bakery first gained popularity in Tokyo, where long queues quickly became a daily sight outside its many stores across the country. Since then, the brand has built a loyal following not only in Japan, but also among international tourists who regularly include the bakery in their Tokyo food itineraries.
They now have outposts in major cities like Seoul and New York, and now KL, which marks the brand’s first store in Southeast Asia.

The doughnuts everyone’s been flying to Japan for will be just around the corner for everyone in Malaysia. i’m donut? opens its first Malaysian outlet on 12th September, at The Exchange TRX.

The Malaysian menu has not yet been confirmed either, but doughnut-lovers can likely look forward to some of the bakery’s bestsellers, especially its unique catalogue of sweet and savoury flavours, including pistachio cream, rich custard, double chocolate, fresh strawberry cream, and matcha-filled varieties.
Seasonal creations are also a huge part of the brand’s identity, with past offerings featuring sakura cream, roasted sweet potato, chestnut mont blanc, hojicha, and yuzu citrus.
