New Cabinet under Ismail Sabri administration
Ismail Sabri took to a live telecast on 27th August to announce his Cabinet line-up, which can be viewed in full on his verified Facebook page.
The key appointment of several senior ministers that were announced are:
- Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, International Trade and Industry Ministry
- Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Defence Ministry
- Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Works Ministry
- Datuk Seri Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, Education Ministry
However, a Deputy Prime Minister was not named in the list of Cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, other key appointments include the reappointment of Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz as Finance Minister. Some reshuffling of roles in the Cabinet, from Ismail Sabri’s predecessor, Muhyiddin, sees Khairy Jamaluddin replacing Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba as Health Minister, and the latter being appointed as Science, Technology and Innovation Minister.
All in all, there are 69 senior ministers, ministers and deputy ministers appointed in the new Cabinet.
The current state of affairs in Malaysia, covering the Covid-19 pandemic, and economic and political uncertainties, are some of the considerations taken into account when appointing the candidates for the Cabinet.
