Kelana Jaya LRT Line To Delay Weekend Opening Hours From 6th September, Here Are The Stations Affected

Opening hour delays on the Kelana Jaya LRT line

If your weekend commute or plans involve hopping on the Kelana Jaya LRT train to get to your destination, you’ll want to take note of upcoming changes to the line’s schedule. The Kelana Jaya LRT line will see delays in opening hours at selected stations from 6th September 2025 onwards, instead of 9th August, as Prasarana has announced a delay in the upgrading works.

Here’s everything we know about the delays and the affected stations.

Upgrades to the Kelana Jaya line

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is giving the Kelana Jaya line’s Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system a modern makeover with the latest SelTrac Generation 8 system.

This upgrade will be a significant upgrade to the current outdated software from the 1980s, with real-time data analytics, higher cybersecurity standards, and more reliable communication between control components, as reported by The Star.

This essentially means that trains will be able to run more safely and soundly.

It also means that certain stations on the Kelana Jaya line will be closed to accommodate the upgrades, with stations not involved in testing operating on their normal hours.

Three phases, with stations affected starting from 9th August

This comprehensive upgrade is broken down into three phases. Phase 1 kicked off on 19th July, dealing with depot areas without putting a hitch in passengers’ plans as maintenance was carried out during the night.

Phase 2, initially set for 9th August, will now commence between 6th September and 12th October 2025, as shared in an update by Prasarana on 6th August. During this period, 10 stations from KLCC to Gombak will open at 9am instead of the usual 6am during weekends and public holidays. The days and stations affected are:

  • 6th, 7th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 27th, and 28th September: KLCC, Ampang Park, Damai, Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek, Setiawangsa, Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati, and Gombak
  • 11th & 12th October: KLCC, Ampang Park, Damai, Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek, Setiawangsa, Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati, and Gombak

Phase 3, set from 1st to 30 November 2025, will impact 17 stations between Lembah Subang and Ampang Park. This includes major transit hubs like KL Sentral and Pasar Seni, with similar late opening arrangements:

  • 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 29th & 30th November: Lembah Subang, Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Asia Jaya, Taman Jaya Universiti, Kerinchi, Abdullah Hukum, Bangsar, KL Sentral, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC, and Ampang Park

The new temporary 9am openings during the weekends and public holidays aim to facilitate real-time testing and fine-tuning of the new system, meaning weekday hours remain unchanged.

Free shuttle buses and vans connecting the affected stations will also be provided by Prasarana to help ease travel during the disruptions.

Delayed opening hours at stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT line for upgrades

If you’re hopping on the Kelana Jaya line over the next months, mark your calendars and plan your trips, especially on affected weekends and holidays. These delays mean you might need to skip those early morning rides from affected stations.
