As the year draws to an end, we’re all looking to take some time out of our busy schedules to relax and unwind. A quick getaway with our SO or family sounds like the perfect way to escape the monotony of everyday life.

Cue Kireina Genting Villa, a new Japanese-inspired resort in Genting Highlands.

It offers gorgeous views of mountain peaks and has private spa baths in each villa that lets you soak your stress away. There’s also an in-house cafe, which welcomes non-hotel guests. The best part – the resort is only an hour away from KL, so you won’t have to travel far for a relaxing staycay.

Kierina Genting Villa invites you to experience a slice of Japan. From its accommodations with Muji-esque decor that are connected by engawa-like pathways, to natural materials such as bamboo used for the entrance and gates – the resort lets you visit “Japan” without a passport required.

As the resort is surrounded by nature in the highlands, you’ll get to breathe cool, fresh air each morning. Misty clouds that envelope the villas on the property, coupled with the wooden and bamboo materials, gives the entire resort a zen-like charm.

There are three types of rooms available at the resort.

The Kireina Suite is ideal for spending quality time with your SO, as it features a king-sized bed, tatami dining table, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom. There are complimentary toiletries and luxe items to use in the suite that’ll highlight your stay here. Not only are you close to nature, the soothing lemongrass diffuser in each room will help you unwind.

Amenities – a kettle and a hairdryer – and toiletries such as towels, toothbrushes, a toothpaste, and bathrobes are available in each villa as well. If you prefer to stay cuddled indoors, each room is equipped with a projector so you can snuggle up and watch movies with your loved ones.

Other rooms here include the Kireina Standard Suite with the same features as the Kireina Suite. Likewise, the Kireina Villa has a similar set up, but with an additional king-sized bed that makes it suitable for families.

The rates for each room are:

  • Kireina Suite: RM600/night on weekdays | RM650/night on weekends | RM700/night on school holidays & public holidays
  • Kireina Villa: RM750/night on weekdays | RM800/night on weekends | RM850/night on school holidays & public holidays
  • Kireina Standard Suite: RM400/night on weekdays | RM450/night on weekends | RM500/night on school & public holidays

A highlight in the villas are the private spa baths – think onsens – fitted in each room, which stays true to its Japanese concept. They can be found on the terrace, so you can enjoy soaking in hot bubbly water over serene views of nature.

Each room also has Onpo Japanese bath salts, which relaxes the body and mind. It also promotes healthy blood circulation and eases stiff shoulders, which will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Complimentary Japanese hot spring matcha powder is also provided for a luxurious jacuzzi experience – picture warm water soaking your bare skin in the cool climate of Genting Highlands.

There’s also a cafe at the villa, which serves a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. Dine on the scrumptious Big Breakfast (RM39.90) – which includes croissants, sausages, cherry tomatoes, baked beans, and eggs – if you’re dropping by for brunch. Or for ideal servings for the cool temperatures, opt for the Miso Udon (RM18.90) for a steamy bowl of noodles with shrimps.

All their meals come with a choice of coffee, tea or orange juice.

You can feast like a king during your stay at this Japanese-inspired villa, as breakfast is complimentary with a night’s stay.

The cafe opens from 8am to 8pm daily, and welcomes non-guests.
