Temporary road closures in October for 47th ASEAN Summit
Malaysians, it’s time once again to prepare an adjusted travel-to-work plan. Temporary road closures are set to start as early as 23rd October 2025 for the 47th ASEAN Summit in peak traffic areas in KL.
Here’s everything that we know about the upcoming scheduled road closures so far.
What are the upcoming road closures for?
With several leaders and delegates from foreign countries attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and its related summits, including US President Donald Trump, Malaysia’s capital city is tightening traffic control throughout the duration of the regional meeting in Malaysia from 26th to 28th October.

In a statement released on 10th October by the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), temporary traffic diversions are set to take place on major highways and roads in the vicinity of KLIA, KLCC, and designated hotels in KL, as the 47th ASEAN Summit takes place at Pusat Konvensyen Kuala Lumpur (KLCC).
The full details of the roads affected in line with the ASEAN Summit will be released by the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM). For now, these are the confirmed dates and roads affected:
Motorcade rehearsals on 23rd & 24th October
JPST is set to commence a series of motorcade rehearsals on major highways and roads connecting KLIA to hotels around KL and KLCC on 23rd and 24th October to facilitate a smooth running of escorting delegates and leaders of other nations.
Phased traffic diversions from 25th to 28th October
A full department-wide deployment of personnel will be in charge from 25th to 28th October. They’ll be facilitating road diversions in areas roughly within 1km radius of KLCC, to allow for smooth travels as well as the arrival and departures for the delegates involved.

The department is expected to release a complete timetable and list of affected roads for the aforementioned motorcade rehearsals and phased traffic diversions before the 47th ASEAN Summit.
