Now, Malaysians have taken to recreating our local dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, satay and more, using LEGO bricks. And we know that their ardent love for local dishes truly speaks to fellow Malaysians who are captivated by the beauty, cuteness and precision of their creations from the way the photos have gone viral.

Yesterday, 19th September 2021, LEGO Malaysia has shared six photos of Malaysian dishes created using LEGO bricks on their Facebook page. The creations were made by various artists who are believed to be Malaysians.

The viral post’s caption said, “We’re loving the local flavours of these builds!” And the artists who made the creations namely, Xylvie Wong, Andy Goh, Gavin Foo, and Eugene Tan, were credited in the post.

The photos feature some of the most popular Malaysian foods that people love, such as a plate of nasi lemak, a set of Hainanese chicken rice, roti canai with condiments, Tau fu fa, satay with dipping sauce, ketupat and traditional Malay kuih. There is also a picture of the famous chilli crab dish from Singapore which caught the attention of social media users.

All of these dishes are believed to be made out of hundreds of LEGO bricks, and their incredible precision in recreating the details of the real dishes has made LEGO Malaysia’s post go viral.

Netizens are in awe of local dishes made out of LEGO


At the time of writing, the viral post had garnered over 3,100 reactions, 1,000 comments and 3,400 shares on Facebook. Malaysians can be seen rejoicing over these creations and tagging their Facebook friends to have a look at the photos. They also left heartwarming messages in the comment section of the post.

Facebook user Joan Wong complemented the artists on recreating such realistic looking models, commenting, “Well done! It’s so real too.”
