‘Lord Of The Rings’ Trilogy Returns To TGV & GSC This March, Watch It In Extended Edition At Cinema Halls Again

‘The Lord Of The Rings’ returns to cinemas this March

It’s been two decades since the first movie from The Lord of the Rings trilogy was released in cinemas. While reruns are possible with streaming platforms, the thrill of watching them on the big screen again is, well, precious.

This March, local cinemas TGV and GSC are pulling out the stops for die-hard fans of the movie. They’ll be screening all three movies in their collective 12-hour extended edition at cinema halls again.

While we have plenty of movies releasing in 2026 to look out for, this one is truly the return of the king of high-fantasy movies to our cinemas.

What’s the return of the movie for?

For TGV, the films will be released in the following order: The Fellowship of the Ring on 5th March, The Two Towers on 12th March, and The Return of the King on 19th March.

As for GSC, they have yet to share the dates for the movies’ rerelease, but have revealed on Instagram that the trilogy will be coming to their halls this March.

For the uninitiated, the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings trilogy have about 45 minutes of additional footage each. That’s about 12 hours of runtime if you’re watching all three films. This may sound like a lot, with each film already having a runtime of over 3 hours, but the butt-numbing minutes sat on a cinema seat will be worth it for LOTR fans.

Yup, millennials are likely getting that “Feel old yet?” feeling, knowing that the first movie in The Lord of the Rings series was released a whopping 25 years ago. But at least we’re getting to watch the films again on the big screen, whether it’s for the first time or the second or third.
