Madam Leela’s Kitchen & Catering: Up To 12 Varieties Of Biryani & Authentic Indian Cuisines In Shah Alam

Madam Leela’s Kitchen, an Indian restaurant in Shah Alam

When it comes to Indian food, biryani is certainly the most popular dish many can think of. This famous mixed rice dish is well-known not just among Indians, but to every other person who’s into tasting a flavourful and satisfying meal.

In Malaysia, big cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Klang have always been go-to options for the best biryanis in town. But there’s also a hidden gem in the heart of a well-developed township in south Shah Alam that is known for its biryanis and other authentic Indian cuisines.

To a certain extent, it is not an overstatement to call Madam Leela’s Kitchen & Catering the house of biryani in Shah Alam. This restaurant, which has a modern vibe, looks far from a traditional Indian restaurant. But try one of the many varieties of biryanis on its menu and we guarantee you’ll be back for more.

A quick check on Madam Leela’s Facebook page will give you an overview of all of their 12 varieties of biryanis which include a Biryani Goreng or a stir-fried biryani, a rare must-try dish here, as well as prawn sambal biryani, mutton peratal biryani, and fried fish biryani.

All of their biryanis come with a small bucket of baked rice, accompanied by 3 condiments, Raita or yogurt sauce, mint chutney and gravy. You can also request other gravies such as curries if you need them. The dish also comes with a hard-boiled egg unless you’ve ordered the vegetarian dum biryani or biryani goreng.

The biryanis are quite reasonably priced for a restaurant operating in a well-developed township in Shah Alam. Prices start as low as RM8 and go up to RM18 per person. Other dishes like fried fish and chicken varuval also fall within the medium price range (RM6 to RM10). If you’re feeling extra peckish, you can add on dishes such as prawn sambal and mutton peratal for RM10 and RM12 respectively.
