According to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, the selection of Penang is part of the government’s commitment to rotate the Malaysia Day celebration venue across different states. This annual rotation aims to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and unity among all Malaysians, regardless of region or background.

Last year, the Malaysia Day celebrations were held at Padang Merdeka in Sabah, which attracted over 40,000 attendees.
