Team X Fight Academy’s website reviews reveal the comradery between the members and their trainers where everyone’s on a first name basis.

Other than the usual MMA styles, Team X also offers Pekiti Tirsia Kali, which is a traditional Filipino close-quarters combat style. This is not a common find the roster of classes at MMA studios, so it may be a good way to mix a new style into your MMA.

Lekir Fitness & MMA Academy holds their classes from the late evenings until midnight – perfect for night owls. It’s a good way to get your fuel pumping right after work, especially for a walk-in rate of just RM15/class.

4. Fade Fitness & MMA – open 24/7 to workout on your own time


While 24-hour gyms is not a new concept, there aren’t many that cater to MMA. At Fade Fitness & MMA, you can either choose to have free reign of the gym and do your training in your own time, or you can opt for one-on-one training. Given that it is a gym set up for MMA, you’re open to work on your combat techniques anywhere.

5. Monarchy MMA – classes from international veterans


Monarchy MMA has international certifications for Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu where many of their athletes compete on the International stage.

7. MuayFit – 8,000 sq. ft. of training space


Muayfit’s PJ headquarters is an 8000 sq. ft. space that is equipped for starting from scratch with mats and punching bags, or honing your skills in the makeshift ring setup. Most of the classes are led by professional competitors from Malaysia, Thailand, and Brazil with MMA backgrounds.

9. WUJI MMA – teaches a rare Chinese fighting art form


WUJI MMA as the name suggests, teaches WuJi – a rare type of Shaolin boxing which is centred around ancient Chinese philosophy. It’s a martial art that’s said to require plenty of discipline and an understanding of philosophical concepts in order to master.

Learning such a lesser known MMA style might give you a slight edge, as others are not as informed of the WuJi style.
