Symphonic Ghibli II new dates at MPO
Even if you’re not familiar with anime, you’ve likely heard of Studio Ghibli. The Japanese animation studio has released celebrated films renowned for their eye-catching hand-drawn animations and also evocative music scores that give us major feels.
If you missed out on snagging tickets to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra’s Symphonic Ghibli II concert, you’re in luck, as they have announced additional dates following two sold-out shows for 2026.
What is ‘Symphonic Ghibli II’?
You can expect to be Spirited Away into the whimsical world of Studio Ghibli with Symphonic Ghibli II. The orchestral concert by MPO is bringing Studio Ghibli’s iconic movie soundtracks to life, with a complete ensemble of strings and woodwinds to capture the magic of the movies.

In 2024, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra performed six Symphonic Ghibli concerts to a remarkable audience demand. A year later, MPO announced that the Ghibli-themed concert is making a return as part of their list of orchestra shows for 2026, with additional dates.

Symphonic Ghibli II was an instant hit when MPO announced two performances in July 2026, with both shows being sold out immediately. If you didn’t manage to get tickets, now is your chance as MPO has announced three additional concerts for Symphonic Ghibli II.
Tickets for the additional dates start from RM199 and go on sale on 16th December 2025 at 12pm. You can purchase them here.
The additional dates are:
- 5th July 2026 at 3pm
- 10th July 2026 at 8pm
- 11th July 2026 at 8pm
Gerard Salonga is conducting the orchestra concert, and you can expect beloved music pieces from Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro to immerse you into the wonderful world of Ghibli films.
