M’sian Transforms Tiny Bedroom Into Stylish Double-Storey Loft, Shares Tips On Creating More Space

Malaysian transforms bedroom into double-storey loft

A bedroom is a sanctuary for a lot of people. It’s where you get your alone time, your privacy, and where you recharge every night. Some bedrooms also double as a workspace during the day, so it makes sense not to scrimp on improving the room you spend most of your time in.

A Malaysian decided to pull out all the stops and completely transform a tiny bedroom into a stylish double-storey loft. This shows that building an elevated platform can make way for a lot of storage and functional space in a room.

Dull bedroom becomes unrecognisable after renovation

A series of photos was shared on a local community Facebook page with the caption “Added another floor in a room. Doesn’t it look nice?” when translated from Malay.

The original bedroom looked mundane without much character – just a few pieces of furniture in neutral shades. The room appeared to be quite drab and narrow, presumably because of the choice of colours.

The following photos then showed the room’s renovation in progress, starting with the construction of an elevated platform and stairs.

Once that was completed, railings were added together with storage cabinets and a small desk by the corner on the floor.

The finishing touches were then completed by painting the stairs, railing, and cabinets a matching colour.

A chill space for rest, work, and play

The end result was a complete 180° transformation from a lackluster bedroom to a mini, modern loft that separated the bed and the workspace by dividing them into two levels.

The brick-like wallpaper that adorned the backdrop gave the room an edgy vibe, but is balanced out with coloured lights that create a more relaxed ambience in the entire space.

To complete the look of the whole room, a black and white rug and a few throw pillows were placed directly under the platform – perfect for a chill, late-night heart-to-heart talk with friends, or just to lounge around and read a book in during the day. The coloured lights can also be switched to a neutral tone to brighten up the room.
