Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu in Penang
Ask Klang Valley folks what’s a spot to hit for nasi lemak, and the name Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu will likely crop up. The homegrown restaurant chain has become a go-to among locals looking to enjoy the Malaysian staple dish in a proper sit-down space.
On 30th April 2025, the restaurant will open the doors to its latest branch in George Town, Penang, bringing its locally loved nasi lemak and variety of sambal and sides to Penangites.

There are currently eight Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu branches in KL and Selangor, in areas like SS15 and TTDI. The newest addition in Penang will be their first store outside of Klang Valley, located on Chulia Street near the Central Fire Station.

A banner of the restaurant was first sighted in Penang back in October 2024. It now has an official opening date, on Wednesday, with operating hours starting bright and early at 7am.
The new restaurant will bring a taste of nasi lemak th at’s loved by Penangites. Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu’s founder was actually inspired to open the restaurant in KL after trying the lipsmacking nasi lemak in Penang, so more could enjoy the iconic dish as it is served in the state.

Besides being known for serving nasi lemak with long, fluffy, and basmathi rice with fried egg and a pour of sambal for RM9.40, and additional sides like ayam berempah (RM15.40) and redang daging (RM17.90), the restaurant also opens late for anyone with late-night cravings for the dish. Likewise, their Penang outlet will operate till 4am.
