Nissin Cold Cup Noodles now in Malaysia
Cup noodles as we know it pairs steaming-hot broth with slurpy noodles. But Japan’s Nissin is flipping the switch with their Cold Cup Noodles: cup noodles that you can cook in 5 minutes with cold water, resulting in chilly broth and springy noodles.
After flying off the shelves in Japan over the summer, the Cold Cup Noodles are now available in Malaysia. Here’s how to get your hands on it:
What are Cold Cup Noodles?
Nissin is a household name for cup noodles in Japan – the brand basically invented instant noodles. In July 2026, Nissin Foods Holding Co. launched a new line of instant cup noodles to help keep everyone cool after over 5 years of development: Cold Cup Noodles.
According to BBC News, Nissin made enough of these Cold Cup Noodles to supply consumers in Japan for 2 months, till the summer season tides over. The cup noodles sold out in just 2 weeks.
What has everyone curious about is that the cup noodles are somehow even more convenient to cook – it only needs iced cold or room-temperature water to make, no boiling of water required. Nissin also introduces two flavours for the cold-water-only cup noodles: Salt & Lemon Chicken and Spicy Kimchi.
How to cook the Cold Cup Noodles?
While you can use cool or room temperature water, Nissin recommends using 5-10℃ water to cook the noodles. If you want to get creative, try swopping out cold water for chilled milk to add more creaminess to the broth.
It takes 5 minutes to cook the instant noodles. It’ll be ready to slurp up once the noodles have been rehydrated, the condiments have puffed up, and the seasoning powder has been dissolved.
Where to get the noodles in Malaysia?
After going viral in Japan, the summer-hit Cold Cup Noodles by Nissin have been brought to Malaysia by SEIBU. The Japanese department store at Kuala Lumpur’s The Exchange TRX has both flavours available at its Food Hall from 11th September 2026, but in limited 200 quantities.
Each cup of noodles costs RM19.90, and is available as a purchase-with-purchase: spend RM100 in a receipt at SEIBU to unlock two cup noodles.
