Things to do at Panorama Langkawi


The island of Langkawi has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in Malaysia.

In addition to being a UNESCO Global Geopark, it boasts a variety of natural wonders, attractions, and sites for adventurous activities. This includes Panorama Langkawi, which encompasses a 2.2km cable car ride that passes through amazing views of its surroundings and other attractions like a famed suspension bridge and a 6D cinema.

Base Station

Panorama Langkawi’s highlight, the SkyCab, hovers over a 550 million-year-old rock in Langkawi, with its highest elevation point at 708m above sea level.

Your journey on the cable car will begin at the Base Station, at the Oriental Village in Teluk Berau which sits at the foothill of Mount Machinchang. The entire ride covers a distance of 2.2km, or 15 minutes in length.

On the way to the Middle Station, you get to immerse in 360-degree views of flora and fauna surrounding the mountain 一 there’s a lot to see from above, so be sure to have your cameras ready.

Also, take your time to bask in the natural beauty around you as the journey covers 1,700m of distance from the Base to the Middle Station.


Middle Station

By the time you reach the Middle Station, you’ll be 650m above sea level, so bear in mind that this activity isn’t for the faint of heart. But rest assured, you’ll be safely confined within the sturdy cable car.

From here, you can continue on foot going to the viewing platforms. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Langkawi and its neighbouring islands from there.


Top Station

A short distance from the Middle Station, the Top Station is located 708m above sea level.

Here, you’ll be met with two more viewing platforms, featuring close-up views of the mountain’s rock tower peaks, overhanging cliff walls, and isolated pinnacles.

If you visit on a clear day, you might even see as far as the south of Thailand.

Langkawi SkyBridge

While at the Top Station, feel free to check out the Langkawi SkyBridge too. The 125m-long curved suspension bridge offers a spectacular view of the forest canopy and surrounding mountains.

Known for its unique architecture, the SkyBridge is believed to be an engineering miracle by some due to its high location. Taking up to 15 minutes of walking distance, it’s considered one of the longest curved suspension bridges in the world.

SkyDome & SkyRex

For fans of 3D projections, head to the SkyDome and SkyRex attractions.

The SkyDome offers panoramic 3D image projections that take you on a visual tour through space, time, and nature.

Located at the Base Station, it’s the perfect way to start your adventure before riding the SkyCab.

For those with kids, the SkyRex would be a great option. Like the SkyDome, SkyRex provides 3D projections and immersive special effects like water spray and lighting. Only this time, you’ll be seated on a tram-like simulator that takes you to the prehistoric era, where dinosaurs roam free.

Both attractions are free once you purchase a SkyCab ticket.

Located near the Base Station, 3D Art Langkawi provides an interactive experience with creative optical illusions throughout the museum. From the Aquarium Zone to the Glow In The Dark Zone, this is your chance to unleash your imagination and take lots of IG-worthy photos.

Meanwhile, 6D Cinemotion offers a 15-minute show that immerses you in a series of special effects through a 3D film and 5D seats.

SkyTrail

Being home to Mount Machinchang, this attraction draws in hikers who want to explore a more natural side of Langkawi by climbing the mountain. The SkyTrail would be perfect for this.

It’s a guided hiking experience that offers numerous trails to hikers of all levels.

For animal lovers, drop by Machinchang Petland Langkawi, a petting zoo within the Langkawi attraction.

Here, you get to explore 24,000sqft of land that’s home to over 81 species of tame and exotic animals. These include animals such as capybaras, Patagonian Maras, and emus, which visitors can interact with.

Telaga Tujuh

Nature enthusiasts might like heading to Telaga Tujuh, also known as the Seven Wells Waterfall. As the name suggests, the natural wonder is made up of seven cascading pools divided by a waterfall.

Legend has it that the waterfall is where fairies bathe, granting it healing powers.

While you’re on a hike, you’re welcome to stop and take a dip in one of the upper pools you come across.
