M’sian brings generator to aid flood victims
During times of distress, our phones are the first thing we reach for to keep in touch with our loved ones or emergency services. But we can’t always keep our devices fully charged in these difficult situations, such as when the flash floods hit Malaysia recently.
Showing that there are many ways to help out our fellow Malaysians at this time is this young man. He hitched a generator to his truck for residents in Taman Sri Muda to charge their phones for free.
Free charging station for phones in flood-affected area
On 23rd December 2021, netizen Albert Chung took to his Facebook account to share a heartwarming story he witnessed with fellow Malaysians.
In his post, he commended a young man for “thinking out of the box” – the man offered free phone charging services in the affected area of Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam, Selangor. The town is said to be one of the worst affected towns of the flood, with residents there even said to be without electricity.
The thoughtful Malaysian had apparently pulled up in his four-wheel drive equipped with a generator to aid flood victims there.

Residents in the photos are seen huddled up around several extension plugs, where their phones were charging. At least six phones can be spotted.
Capping off his post, Chung notes that there are many ways for people to help out flood victims at this time. He then applauded the young man once again for his kind deed.
Netizens praise young man’s thoughtful deed
Chung’s Facebook post has since gone viral, receiving over 9,000 shares and 5,000 likes at the time of writing. Many have praised the young man for his quick thinking.

In the comments section, the majority of netizens appeared to be impressed with the young man’s creative form of help. One netizen even said that he was “more clever than sang kancil.”

Other netizens, such as Farah Haton Abu Hassan, were thankful to see how Malaysians have been helping each other during the recent floods. She commented, “Awesome, kind, creative. Thank you to the individuals involved in this. You guys have big hearts. Proud to be Malaysian.”

The recent floods haven’t been an easy ordeal for those affected. But we can always be assured that Malaysians will rise to the occasion and help one another in practical, and meaningful, ways.
