Malaysian man cosplays as Power Ranger in the office scenes
If you’re a millennial born in Malaysia, you would know the Power Rangers. This team of superheroes who fight off evil in colourful suits used to grace our TVs, and any fan would remember seeing and, most likely, buying their action figures sold at pasar malams to add to our collectibles.
Recently, a Malaysian man from Johor Bahru decided to cosplay as a Green Power Ranger, one of the protagonists of the popular TV series. And he’s also winning over the Internet as photos of him suited up in a Power Ranger costume while going about the daily hustle and grind of an office worker went viral on Twitter.
Power Rangers take on typical duties in office
The photos were first shared on Twitter on 20th September 2020 by Airil Hafiz at his handle @AirilHafiz. While most of us opt for button-downs and slacks for work, he tweeted, “Today, I’m going to work in [a] Power Ranger suit.”
His whim resulted in a series of photos where the Green Power Ranger, along with his counterpart, the White Ranger, can be seen participating in a meeting in a conference room instead of wielding their usual swords and daggers, or taking part in fights.

Looking like most of us after a long day at work, the Green Power Ranger even had his feet propped up on the table in a photo that’s proving to us all that even superheroes need a break after kicking butt at work.

Another hilarious photo showed the White Ranger scribbling on a whiteboard while the Green Ranger attentively listened from the other end of the table with his helmet off.

Cosplay costumes made from scratch from creative freelancers
Hafiz shared in another tweet that the entire Green Power Ranger suit was fully customised. From the boots to the Green Ranger’s familiar golden shield armour and armbands – these were all made from scratch. Only the helmet was sourced from Japan to complete his legit cosplay costume.
Speaking to The Smart Local Malaysia, Hafiz shared that he works as an actor for a TV station, and that he and his team are freelancers who organise events for hobby toys and anime cosplayers. They also drop by birthday parties in costumes they made in their free time to entertain guests.

In fact, the fun Green Ranger get-up that Hafiz donned in their office was actually for an event for KIP Mall in JB, which explained the presence of the White Ranger, his teammate and co-worker. Both of them even took on a less-than-usual superhero work – stir-frying noodles – at the event, while fully costumed.

Another group of netizens joining in on the fun were those who were familiar with the TV series. They came out to make funny memes using the hilarious photos of the office scenes. Netizen @_zepherion tweeted an imaginary conversation that the 2 Power Rangers having in their new “workplace” after the Avengers have taken over saving the world:
[White Ranger]: I’m glad the Avengers [are] taking care of business now. I like working here.
[Green Ranger]: You’re right. I haven’t used my Zoid for years now. Refuelling that thing cost me my dagger.
