Putrajaya Train Ride


Many head to Putrajaya for government-related errands or to hit must-visit hotspots like Taman Saujana Hijau and the marvelously pink Putra Mosque.

As it can get tiring to explore all the attractions on foot, and under the blazing sun, Putrajaya now has a new family-friendly train ride so you can sit back and catch sights of landmarks while travelling past a lake. This 30-minute scenic train ride departs daily from Dataran Putra, near Putra Mosque, between 12pm and 9pm.

Sightseeing can take up a lot of energy, especially if you’re on foot. With the Putrajaya Train Ride, you can rest your feet and enjoy scenic views of the lake and landmarks in the city while in the shade.

The 30-minute ride travels along the lake, through lush greenery, with hotspots like the Putra Mosque and the Prime Minister’s Office to spot during the journey.

As for prices, the Putrajaya Train Ride will only set you back RM15/adult and RM10/child. With each ticket purchase, you get a complimentary bottle of water to keep you hydrated along the trip.

You can only physically purchase the tickets from the ticketing counter at Dataran Putra. The ticketing counter is located next to ZUS Coffee. It’s also near a Putrajaya Water Taxi pier, so you can cross the lake to do more sightseeing in Putrajaya.

With sightseeing, you’re sure to get hungry and start food-seeking instead.

Along the row of shops located at Dataran Putra are Old Town White Coffee, Kenangan Coffee, and a food court that has a variety of cuisines for you to choose from.

Another must-visit spot in the vicinity of the Putrajaya Train Ride is Chocolate Souq Shoppe, the biggest chocolate shop in Klang Valley. Here, you can shop for chocolates from a variety of local and international brands. There are often daily discounts and deals on sweet treats at the shop, including discounts that can get as low as 50%.
