Putrajaya Water Taxi
The lake in Putrajaya has many aquatic activities to offer, ranging from water sports to sightseeing cruises. But not many might be aware that the city and its centrepiece waters offer marine transport for the public. Called Putrajaya Water Taxi, Cruise Tasik Putrajaya started offering this mode of transport on 14th October 2023.
The water taxi travels all across this federal state’s man-made lake, at reasonable prices.
What are the jetty checkpoints for Putrajaya Water Taxi?

There are seven jetty checkpoints to take the Putrajaya Water Taxi, which are all located near must-visit places in Putrajaya. As there’s currently only one MRT station in Putrajaya, this is a convenient way to get around the city.
The checkpoints are:
- Taman Botani
- Kelab Tasik Putrajaya
- Cruise Tasik Putrajaya
- Zenith Hotel
- Millennium Monument
- JAKIM
- Anjung Floria

What are the operating hours for Putrajaya Water Taxi?
The Putrajaya Water Taxi service operates on all days of the week, including on public holidays, though the hours of operation differ on weekdays and the weekends.
The service starts operating at 10am until 6pm on weekdays, with services temporarily closed from 12.35pm to 2.35pm on Fridays for Friday prayers. On weekends, the water taxi operates as early as 8am and ends its operations by 6.30pm.
At each checkpoint, the taxi frequents the jetty every 50 minutes. On the weekends, the taxi frequents the jetty checkpoints every 20-50 minutes.
Taman Botani Checkpoint

Starting from the north, Taman Botani offers 13 differently themed parks on a 92ht land. There are bicycle rentals and trendy, unique cafes to unwind after a long walk. The lake by Taman Botani overlooks the prime minister’s official residence: Kompleks Seri Perdana.
Kelab Tasik Putrajaya Checkpoint

Kelab Tasik Putrajaya is a boat club offering kayak rentals. Visitors can rent single kayaks, double kayaks, and stand-up paddle boats. Across this boat club are two of Putrajaya’s famous landmarks: Masjid Putra and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Cruise Tasik Putrajaya Checkpoint
Cruise Tasik Putrajaya is the central operation centre for all of Cruise Tasik Putrajaya’s cruises and boat services. There, visitors can get past this checkpoint to visit Masjid Putra and the vicinity of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Zenith Hotel Checkpoint
From the Cruise Tasik Putrajaya checkpoint to Zenith Hotel checkpoint, visitors get to cruise by Air Pancut Tasik Putrajaya. It has a centrepiece water fountain that serves as a cool attraction, and also functions to improve the oxygen content for the lake’s aquatic life.
Millennium Monument Checkpoint
Past the Seri Wawasan Bridge, the Millennium Monument is a pencil-shaped monument that serves to commemorate Malaysia’s history since the nation’s Independence. At this checkpoint, visitors are able to visit a popular food truck spot, Putrajaya Food Truck Hotspot@Presint 2, which opens from 5pm-12am, daily.
JAKIM Checkpoint

The JAKIM checkpoint is the nearest access point to another known mosque in Putrajaya. Masjid Besi, or its official name, Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, is an iconic structure dubbed the Iron Mosque as it is 70% made of steel. Visitors can also visit the Palace of Justice, which is a 9-minute walk from the mosque.
Anjung Floria Checkpoint
Lastly, at the Anjung Floria checkpoint, visitors can walk around Anjung Floria, and the China-Malaysia Friendship Garden.
What are the fees for Putrajaya Water Taxi?

Tickets can only be purchased on board the water taxi. Inform the guide of your destination, and pay accordingly. The water taxi fee depends on the distance from one checkpoint to another.
A trip ranges from only RM2-RM7 for adults, and RM1-RM3.50 for children under 12 years old. But for travellers wanting to use the Water Taxi service all day, Cruise Tasik Putrajaya offers an all-day pass of RM25 for adults and RM15 for children under 12 years old.

If you plan to use this unique service, be sure to check their taxi schedule according to the checkpoints. It may come in handy to plan your travels around Putrajaya or as a quick shortcut to a destination.
Be sure to look out for bad weather, as Putrajaya Water Taxi will shut down operations for safety purposes.
A nice getaway from road traffic in Putrajaya
While Putrajaya is not as jam-packed as KL, it is still susceptible to road traffic. It can get especially crowded in places where special events are held, namely Royal Floria Putrajaya at Anjung Floria, or New Year’s gatherings along the lakeside.
Putrajaya’s Water Taxi service should definitely be taken into consideration for your next travels in the state. The affordable fee is worth cutting past traffic with the bonus of scenic views of Putrajaya.
