Putters Cafe in Shah Alam
Most of us associate golfing with fancy country clubs and exclusive memberships that most of us can’t afford. But that doesn’t always have to be the case. Putters Cafe is a new beginner- and family-friendly mini golf spot that’s just a 35-minute drive from KL.
If you find yourself in Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam, the cafe is located inside it. You can swing by to play a game of mini golf and enjoy a mouth-watering steak sandwich with a glass of hand-pressed orange juice on the side.
Mini golf in the outdoors
Putters Cafe is only half an hour’s journey from KL. It is a humble mini golf and cafe spot in Shah Alam’s botanical garden, still undiscovered by most. Recently opened in November 2025, this attraction combines cosy camp-inspired cafe aesthetics with a miniature golf course set against a nature-centric backdrop.
Whether you’re holding a golf club or a sandwich in your hand, you’ll get to enjoy both game and food with a view of paddy fields just to your right.
For the uninitiated, an average mini golf course has nine holes to complete. To finish a game, you have to go through all nine individual holes. Each has its own theme and obstacles like winding paths, ramps, and structures such as a lighthouse and a prairie dog that your ball must roll under, around, and sometimes through.
If you haven’t any experience in mini golf before, the friendly staff will guide you through the rules. All equipment is provided, including golf clubs, balls, and a scoring sheet. And there’s no pressure to golf, as patrons can play as many holes as they want, take a break to refuel with food, and continue their game to see who emerges as the winner.
One game for an adult is only RM25, with two games for RM45, and five games for RM100. Children are also welcome to play, but they must always be accompanied by an adult.
What to order at Putters Cafe
Putters Cafe is operated by the same owners behind Kem Kopi, a lakeside camp-inspired cafe located in Puncak Alam. It has the same camp-style seats set inside open tents, and a similar menu of drinks and a sandwich to energise you throughout your mini golf game.
Their must-try food item is the hefty Classic Steak Sandwich (RM22). It’s the only food item on the menu, but we’re not complaining. The sandwich is pretty hefty, comprising 90g of New Zealand striploin beef, as well as melted cheddar and greens like capsicum and lettuce. The whole thing gets drizzled with the cafe’s signature barbecue sauce.
To quench your thirst, their Pure Pressed (RM9) orange juice is made with three Valencia oranges – it’s pretty much a direct shot of Vitamin C while you take your shot on the golf course. And if you’re looking for even more fruity tang in your sips, there’s also the Birdie Berry (RM10) – an orange juice drink mixed with raspberries.
If you’re a coffee lover, Putters Cafe offers coffee drinks made of 100% Arabica coffee beans for just under RM12.
How to get to Putters Cafe?
It can feel like a maze to reach Putters Cafe, as it’s tucked within a sprawling park. But not to fret if you follow the steps we’ve laid out.
Once you arrive at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam, you’ll have to pay RM5 per vehicle to park your car at designated spots. Once on foot, you will come across a plaza with the park’s signage. Past this sign is the ticketing counter, where you’ll have to fork out a small fee of RM3 per pax to enter the park and reach Putters Cafe.
Once you’re inside the park, spot a roofed entrance to your left. Past it, there’s a huge building resembling a big kampung house to your right. There will be a small sign to tell you that you’re on the right path heading towards Putters Cafe, which faces a paddy field.
Once you’re level with the paddy field, head down the road and take a left. Putters Cafe will be on the right. It’s a smaller spot, just off the road, but it will be hard to miss with the white sign of the cafe erected next to a green arch, marking the cafe entrance.
Aim high & drink slow at Putters Cafe
So, the next time you find yourself in Shah Alam and in search of a new activity, head to the city’s botanical garden to tee off with your friends at Putters Cafe. Or just come by to grab a meal in the outdoors, if that’s more your vibe.
