What services does Rapid KL cover?

A variety of public transport options are covered by Rapid KL. They include the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), KL Monorail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and feeder buses in KL and Selangor.

Most of the unlimited travel passes will cover rides on all these rail and bus services.

Excluded are trips on the KTM Komuter, ERL, Rapid Penang, Rapid Kuantan, and Putrajaya’s Nadiputra bus services.

There are several unlimited travel passes by Rapid KL, which were introduced to encourage the use of public transportation among locals and tourists alike.

My50


If you’re a MyKad holder and a regular commuter in Klang Valley, the My50 Unlimited Travel Pass will be the pass most worth getting. It offers 30 days of unlimited rides across Rapid KL’s network, including the LRT, MRT, KL Monorail, BRT, Rapid KL buses, and MRT feeder buses.

This pass is priced at RM50 and can currently only be activated on MyKad or MyTentera. If you commute regularly, you can opt for auto-renewal by maintaining a value of RM55 in your MyKad. My50 also has a flexible renewal date. You can activate and start using the pass on any given date, without having to wait for the first day of the month.

To make things even smoother, there are plans to expand the pass availability to alternatives such as Touch ‘n Go (TNG) cards and smartphone QR codes. Soon, passengers will get to enjoy the ease of renewing their monthly passes via the TNG eWallet too.


MyCity


Beyond the My50, Rapid KL offers MyCity passes that can be purchased by both locals and tourists alike. The pass has the same perks as My50, but for a shorter duration. In other words, you’ll get unlimited rides on the LRT, MRT, KL Monorail, BRT, Rapid bus, and MRT feeder bus in Klang Valley for either a single day, two days, or three.

Prices start at a reasonable RM6 for Malaysians and RM18 for non-Malaysians, for a day pass.

MyTourist


For locals playing tourists and travellers who can’t avoid sightseeing and shopping on their KL trip, the MyTourist Pass is worth considering. It covers unlimited rides on public transport across the Klang Valley, via the MRT, LRT, monorail, bus rapid transit, and feeder bus services, and includes discounts at selected eateries, retailers, and attractions in KL.

Highlight perks include 15% off tickets to KL Tower’s attractions, free durian mochi at DurianBB, and 25% off tickets to Sunway Lagoon.

Options are available for one-, two-, and three-day durations, with differing rates for locals and tourists – prices start at RM20 for Malaysians, and RM40 for tourists.

KL TravelPass

If you plan to travel from and to KL from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport by public transportation, you should get the KL TravelPass. This pass includes a one-way or return trip on the KLIA Ekspres, which travels from the airport to KL Sentral, and also two days of unlimited rides on LRT, MRT, BRT, and KL Monorail lines and RapidKL buses.

It comes in the form of a preloaded TNG card.

Can I purchase an unlimited travel pass online?


Getting your hands on an unlimited travel pass is pretty straightforward. You can purchase them online at the MyRapid Shop website or on the MyRapid Pulse app, or by buying them in person at a Rapid KL Customer Service Office at an MRT, LRT, monorail, or bus rapid transit counter, as well as at selected bus hubs.

The bus hubs are: Pasar Seni, Chow Kit, Sri Nilam, Puchong Utama, Pearl Point, Greenwood, and Seksyen 2 Shah Alam.

If you bought a pass online, you’ll still need to pop by a Rapid KL Customer Service Office to redeem and validate it. Be sure to bring along a TNG card and your purchase receipt. Once your pass has been validated, you can tap in and out of a station, with the first tap at the gate automatically activating your pass.

The KL TravelPass can be purchased at KLIA Ekspres counters at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 in the arrival halls and at KL Sentral at the Departure Hall on Level 1. Else, online purchases through KLIA Ekspres’ website and mobile app is also possible.


Where can I purchase a Touch ‘n Go card?


Malaysians can activate a pass on their MyKad. If you’re a tourist, you’ll have to purchase a Touch ‘n Go card along with a pass.

Touch ‘n Go cards can be purchased at any Rapid KL Customer Services Office at a train station for RM10. Other places to get a TNG card include petrol stations, convenience stores, and pharmacies such as Watsons.


Is there a reload fee?


A small reload fee of RM0.50 will be charged to your TNG card when activating an unlimited travel pass by RapidKL.


Do I have to have a minimum balance on my card?


A minimum credit of RM6 on your MyKad, MyTentera, or TNG card is a must. If you don’t have this amount, you’ll be required to top up this amount to your card before buying a pass.
