When you dine at Fowlboys, you not only get to dig into juicy fried chicken – you also get to dine in a place that oozes retro American diner vibes.
Featuring subway tiles, blue-tiled counters, and red pendant lights above the tables, Fowlboys is an American fast-food joint that specialises in serving Southern-style fried chicken with different spice levels: Neat, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot.

While their fried chicken is great on its own, you have the option to have it between two fluffy potato buns with their O.G. Sandwich (RM20.50). This is a simple curation of chicken thighs, pickles, in-house Cluck sauce, and Fowl jam. Another option worth trying is the Major Buffalo (RM24), which incorporates buffalo sauce into a chicken sandwich for that added dose of spiciness and tanginess.
Another highlight on the menu is Batter Up (RM17.90), comprising chicken and waffles drizzled with maple syrup. To complete the classic American comfort food combo, order yourself a glass of their vanilla Milkshake (RM16).

7. Menya Hanabi -brothless ramen Mazesoba
When it comes to ramen, most of us picture a bowl of noodles swimming in a thick broth. But at Menya Hanabi, the broth that typically goes with ramen is nowhere to be found. This Japanese ramen shop serves Mazesoba: a brothless ramen dish that originated in Nagoya, Japan, and inspired by Taiwan danzai noodles.

The Nagoya Mazesoba (from RM24/small) at Menya Hanabi is created with a foundation of ramen, followed by seaweed, scallions, spring onions, chopped garlic, and dried fish powder, which are all carefully arranged along the edge of the bowl. Topping these ingredients off is spicy minced pork and a raw egg yolk.
To best savour this dish, get your chopsticks in and give everything a good mix. An eating hack shared by the restaurant is to add a bit of their homemade vinegar. Once you finished your Mazesoba, you can ask for a free scoop of rice to soak up the leftover sauce and toppings in the bowl.
Other brothless ramen options here include Doniku Nagoya Mazesoba (from RM32/small) with added char siu and Toroniku Nagoya Mazesoba (from RM32/small) with braised pork.
