Swan Lake ballet to be performed live in KL in 2025
Many of us know those haunting strains of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake all too well, along with every anguishing pirouette and plié we dream up in our heads when we hear that haunting melody.
But on 11th October 2025, these reveries will turn into reality, for the ballet masterpiece of Swan Lake is to be performed in the tropical lands of Kuala Lumpur, led by the esteemed St. Petersburg National Ballet Theatre all the way from Russia.

It’s not often that Malaysia gets to play host to Russian royalty – and by that we’re talking about the ones wearing tutus, not crowns.
The highly-revered ballet troupe from Russia – the St. Petersburg National Ballet Theatre – is leaping across continents for their Swan Lake: Asean Tour 2025, and will be stopping by Kuala Lumpur for a few enchanting hours to tell the tragic tale of the Swan Queen, Odette.

The stages of KLCC Plenary Hall will be brushed with moonlight and centuries-old elegance, and graced by 40 international ballerinas, dancers as well as soloists from Russia’s legendary Marrinsky Theatre.
It was just last year that the St. Petersburg National Ballet Theatre brought the magical Swan Lake performance to our shores, so those who missed the show the past year will have the chance this time round, to witness the ballerinas fluttering across the stages, like swans skimming along a moonlit lake, along to Tchaikovsky’s aching score.
