The White Forest cafe
In this Instagram and Tiktok era where aesthetics of a feed prevails, sometimes a decent plate of grub isn’t enough. Slick minimalist cafes are good for decluttering our thoughts over a good meal and may have once been in vogue, but in recent years, enthralling plant-filled cafes have become increasingly popular in the cafe scene.
Embodying this with flair is The White Forest, a new forest-themed cafe in KL. Instead of sumptuous greens and vibrant florals, this cafe feels like a legit fall woodland with beautiful rows of white birch tree trunks embellishing its interior – this is sure to enhance both your dining experience and Instagram feed.

Located in the chic grounds of Scarletz Suites KLCC, The White Forest is well and truly a fitting reflection of its name. The cosy cafe is decorated to look just like a birch forest – a landscape of white birch trees perched tall throughout the space, their distinctive serrated chalky barks making for striking specimens in the forest-like landscape.

Echoing the forest theme, warm brown and gold leaves carpet the ground like a comforting quilt of autumn foliage, giving patrons the pleasure of dining in a humble boldness of a forest in the fall.
The furnishings take cues from the theme as well, with lots of earthy tones and weathered wood features that decorate the tables, chairs, doors, and walls of the cafe.

While the tree-lined interior makes for a stunning photo spot, it is also the perfect tranquil setting to enjoy a delightful brunch fare. The White Forest serves an eclectic selection of Japanese fusion dishes that’ll captivate your palate as much as its ambience has with your eyes.

The cafe’s all-day menu is a long one that’ll have you spoilt for choices. For classic Japanese meals, there’s Chicken Katsu Don (RM25) and the signature Ahuri Donburi (RM33) – which is a soul-satisfying bowl of fluffy Japanese rice, slow-cooked duck breast meat, luscious soft-boiled eggs, and pickled cucumbers with a charming pot of duck broth served on the side.

Highlighted at the cafe are their fusion dishes, with options such as Chicken Katsu Sando (RM16) that has gloriously fried panko chicken stuffed between buttery brioche toasts, and Ahiru Curee Spaghetti (RM25) that merges Japanese curry with pasta and duck breast for a Western twist.
To share, there are platters of sushi available including Fried Salmon Roll (RM19) and Shoyu Sesame Chicken (RM13).
