Things to do in KL and Selangor in February 2025


January felt like forever, but we’re now in February with a new slew of exciting events to check out. With Valentine’s Day, a cosplaying event, and a Japanese cinema showcase happening in the upcoming weeks, we did the legwork and found these 11 things to do this February 2025 for you.


1. Japanese Cinema Mini Showcase 2025


21st to 24th February

The Japan Foundation is hosting a Japanese Cinema Mini Showcase 2025 at GSC Mid Valley Megamall to spotlight Japanese cinema and storytelling. Four films will be screened twice each day of the showcase: romances Love Letter and A Story of Yonosuke, thriller Maborosi, and comedy Sweet Bean.

Screenings will be in Japanese, accompanied by English subtitles, at the following times:

  • 21st Feb: Love Letter (8pm)
  • 22nd Feb: Maborosi (1.30pm), Sweet Bean (5pm), Love Letter (8pm)
  • 23rd Feb: Maborosi (12.50pm), A Story of Yonosuke (3.40pm), Love Letter (8pm)
  • 24th Feb: Sweet Bean (5pm), A Story of Yonosuke (8pm)

Admission: RM10/screening. Tickets can be purchased with GSC.

2. Love Fest at Kedai KL

If you’re looking to get crafty with bae or friends over the Valentine’s Day weekend, head to KEDAI KL for their Love Fest market. There’ll be workshops to attend, including a Plushy Workshop hosted by the team at OLO Studio which lets you pick out a cuddly plushy and have it dressed in an outfit of your choice. The Flower Blind Box is another workshop where you can DIY a bouquet from a surprise mix of flowers.

3. Luna Lights Wonderland

Marvel at a spectacle of dazzling lights at the Luna Lights Wonderland – it has a whopping million LED lights sparkling the grounds of Bukit Jalil Recreational Park. Hailed as Malaysia’s largest lights festival, the event has seven zones with different themes like Space and Animal to entertain both grown-ups and kiddos.

4. Kura’s Puppy Parade

Whether you have a dog or plan to adopt one, Kura’s Puppy Parade invites pet owners and lovers to hang out with four-legged friends from the animal welfare group Ruff Love. You can bring along your furbaby to make friends and join the Puppy Parade, or opt to bring an adorable doggo from the shelter on a stroll through the neighbourhood.

Adoptions are welcomed during the event – you can also become a Kura’s Krafts VVIP and snag two free beers and hotdogs every month with an adoption.

5. Nijigen Expo 2025

Calling all cosplayers and fans of cosplay – Nijigen Expo 2025 returns this month with a 3-day event. Vtubers like Vshojo’s NOVA and Henya the Genius, Japanese performers such as Ryukku-k and Akie Ki, and popular cosplayers Thames Malerose, Oichi, and Deki are set to make an appearance at the convention.

6. The Godown Artists Market

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s or Galentine’s this year, The Godown Arts Centre is hosting an Artists Market on Valentine’s Day weekend. Couples and friends can browse and buy arts, crafts, fashion, and prints from over 30 vendors, and also check out workshops, talks, and live performances.

7. Essential Love Stories at MPO

Among the lineup of Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) concerts taking place this month, the Essential Love Stories is one that you’ll want to bring bae to on 15th February. Be swept away by romantic orchestral tunes from timeless movies such as Pride & Prejudice, In The Mood For Love, and Romeo & Juliet.

8. GMBB

KL’s GMBB has a collection of events taking place in February for you to get artsy with. Some top picks include an Abstract Drawing Workshop hosted by Grim Dreams Studio, where you’ll get to create a drawing as a gift or just to explore your creative muscles for RM80/pax.

Japanophiles should check out the free-admission TOKYO Before/After showcase that has over 80 photography works with Tokyo in the 1930s-40s as the subject displayed. To appreciate local art, The Palette Project highlights the behind-the-scenes creative process of 55 Malaysian artists and is free-entry too.

9. Meow Fest

Meow Fest is exactly what it sounds like – the 2-day festival at Eco Forest celebrates all things feline, with pet booths, dry grooming demos, and the highlight Feline Fun Show letting well-dressed cats compete for the spotlight. There’s also a petting zoo corner for the kiddos to meet other small animals like rabbits.

10. Yesterday Once More: Love Is All You Need at KLPAC

For a night of nostalgic hits, KLPAC’s Yesterday Once More: Love Is All You Need concert lets you sing along to all-time favourites from The Beatles, Elton John, Nat King Cole, and more with your partner or friend. Watch classic Malaysian folktales and legends come to life with Dondang Dongeng, an award-winning concert performed by local talents. You’ll get to recognise characters like Sang Kancil on stage and bop along to modern and traditional songs during the musical show.
