Tian Dian in Subang Jaya
SS15 is the prime place to go in Subang Jaya when you aren’t sure of what to eat. From chap fan to desserts, you’ll be spoilt for choices. But only one spot in the area is serving variations of the viral jiggly pudding that has been taking over our FYP – Tian Dian.
The cafe serves traditional tong sui and mochi waffles. But we couldn’t resist their viral jiggly pudding – yes, that pudding that jiggles when you smack it with a spoon.
Jiggly puddings in different shapes
Several cafes in Klang Valley have hopped on the bandwagon to serve jiggly puddings made popular in Korea and Japan. But Tian Dian puts a twist on the wobbly dessert by having them in different shapes such as a cat, capybara, and duck – to be precise, there are seven flavours and shapes served at the cafe.
But what intrigued us most was their Psyduck (RM13.90) and Dino (RM16.90), as well as newest Capybara (RM16.90), puddings.
The Dino is a pandan-flavoured pudding shaped like a – you guessed it – dinosaur. No teeth-bearing one, the dinosaur pudding is adorably resting on its belly with its eyes closed, just like a puppy would.
Not all for looks, the pudding comes with Gula Melaka syrup to give the pudding a hint of sweetness. There are also fruits such as mango and honeydew chunks, as well as blueberries and strawberries presented like a flower, decorating the plate.
Capybara, capybara, capybara, capybara – whether squishy capybaras are your new love or chocolate is just a go-to dessert flavour for you, go for the Capybara pudding.
It’s already a chocolate-flavoured pudding, but paired with dark chocolate syrup for that extra chocolate-y richness. To balance the cocoa flavours, the dessert also comes with fruits such as mango, honeydew, and blueberry.
The Psyduck was the highlight out of all the pudding flavours and shapes offered at Tian Dian, in terms of taste. A treat for Pokémon fans, the pudding is mango-flavoured, with coconut milk that adds a milky taste and a subtle sweetness to the dessert. It also came with popping pearls and additional mango jelly cubes.
Ambience at Tian Dian
When you step inside Tian Dian, you will feel a sense of calmness. The cafe has a cosy and quiet vibe due to the natural lighting from outside and the decoration that makes you feel like you’re right at home – it’s the perfect spot to have a quiet chat or to read a good book.
There are tables in one corner that sit under a Japanese-like roof structure, with strings of Sakura flowers hung from wooden beams.
Most customers come here during tea-time to grab something chilly to cool-off with the recent scorching weather. So if you want to avoid the crowds, you can come over in the late evening after 4pm.
