New Traffic Fine Payment & Discount System To Be Implemented In Malaysia Starting 1st Jan 2026

New traffic fine payment system in Malaysia

The Malaysian government has announced plans to introduce a new traffic fine and discount payment system in 2026 to combat delayed traffic fine payments. This new system runs under the principle, “the less you delay, the less you pay”. What this means for Malaysians: fines will be subject to discounts if motorists pay them within 30 days.

How much are the fine reductions?

Under this new system, motorists who settle fine payments within 15 days will receive a 50% discount. Meanwhile, motorists who pay their fines within 16-30 days will receive a 33% discount.

As for motorists who settle their fines after 30 days, they are required to pay the full amount of the fine.

According to Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in a media conference in the Parliament, fines that have not been paid after 61 days will risk being blacklisted.

However, for serious offences such as driving without insurance or a license, and driving with a fake license, they will continue to be settled in court.

You can check your pending fines through MySIKAP, MyJPJ app, MyBayar PDRM, or at any available JPJ counter and kiosk.

Additionally, traffic summonses will be eligible for discounts of up to 70% starting on 1st November to 30th December 2025, in preparation for the 2026 rollout. The police have urged the public to settle their existing fines by 30th December 2025.

No more seasonal traffic fine discounts

The year-end is approaching, and long holidays prompt more motorists on the road. Long drives can be exhausting, so be sure to get much-needed rest before your drive. We prioritise traffic safety and urge drivers on the road to stay safe and obey traffic rules to avoid getting fined or having traffic accidents.
