If you’re someone who can get lost in a painting for hours at a gallery, strolling through a new exhibition likely sounds like the perfect weekend activity. Enter Van Gogh Alive, an immersive exhibition dedicated to the famed post-impressionist painter, that’s set to open on 17th December 2022 in Kuala Lumpur.

While visitors won’t get to see the iconic The Starry Night and Sunflowers in the flesh, Van Gogh Alive will feature massive floor-to-ceiling projections that are the next best thing. They’ll bring to life Van Gogh’s paintings, so art lovers and casual visitors will get to be surrounded by the distinct swirls and vibrant colours that the artist is known for.

On 29th November, Facebook page Van Gogh Alive Malaysia shared that Van Gogh Alive is set to open in Malaysia, at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. It will run from 17th December to 16th March 2023, and is said to span 20,000sqft on the KL shopping mall’s third floor.

Other details that have been released by Van Gogh Alive Malaysia on its official website include the exhibition’s opening hours – from 10am to 10pm, daily

For the uninitiated, the famous multi-sensory art experience dedicated to Van Gogh has held successful shows in cities across the US, Europe and Canada. Art enthusiasts in Malaysia can mark their calendars for its arrival in our capital city soon.

While Pavilion Bukit Jalil has yet to make an official announcement, early bird tickets can already be purchased for Van Gogh Alive for RM46/pax (U.P. RM75/pax) on CloudJoi, from now till 5th December.

The mesmerising multi-sensory Van Gogh Alive exhibition will feature Van Gogh’s most quintessential works, brought to life via large projections and 3-dimensional format paintings. They’ll magnify every brushstroke and the tiniest of details in his artworks.

Also expected to be on display at the exhibition is a life-sized 3D display of Van Gogh’s famed The Bedroom painting. Here, visitors can interact with different objects in the artwork – including the iconic chairs and a bed – to fully appreciate the artist’s charming, timeless picture.
