If you’re on a strict budget, consider bringing your pet to a Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar Daerah near you. This government veterinary service mainly sees agricultural animals, but at all their locations, there’s a clinic that offers affordable consultations, check-ups, and vaccinations for small animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits.
You’ll find branches nationwide, with districts in Klang Valley such as Klang, Petaling, Sepang, Gombak, and Kuala Selangor providing the following services for your furkids:
- Consultation and treatment
- Vaccinations
- Dental care
- Minor surgeries, such as neutering
- Deworming
- Basic grooming

Those with a 9-to-5 job will know the struggles of rushing to get their furry pets to their nearest veterinarians after work, as most veterinarians and animal hospitals close by 6pm. But SAMC Animals Centre, an association of veterinary practices that’s been operating since 1999, has branches that open late into the night – specifically the ones in Kajang and Bangi, which are open till 10pm.
